I am SO GLAD you voiced this out! I was hesitant to say it in as many words myself, but you're absolutely right!

In some cases, that phrase holds true, but in Raghav's case it couldn't be farther from the truth! He's always been a one-man army with his sidekick, Farhad. If anything, I see Farhad toiling more than Raghav on any given day. Pallavi may have inspired him to be a little softer, to tone down his anger in certain situations, but that has nothing to do with building his empire.

Maybe Pallavi has inspired him to be a better husband in their marriage, but even that bit isn't true. Raghav has always aced his role of a husband, even at the beginning when they couldn't stand each other. He never mistreated her in their marriage. He simply married her to bring his mom and sister home and he stood by that. He gave her space, he gave her access to anything and everything, and he pretty much let her take the lead in their relationship. If anything, he maintained an open communication and open door policy at his end, thus giving her free reign.

Raghav should instead be crediting Farhad, even the rest of his staff for that matter. His entourage has effortlessly managed Raghav Rao, the brand, and that has enabled him to keep working day and night to bring Jayati Jewellers where it is today. His wife has nothing to do with it. His Amma has nothing to do with it either.

I fully agree ke har cheez mein romance daalne ki koi zaroorat nai hai. Jahan daalna chahiye wahan "tum mere ho" shuru ho jaata hai, aur jahan nahi daalna chahiye wahan "wife is lyfe" ki barsaat ho rahi hai. CVs kasam se pagal ho chuke hain aur saath saath humein bhi pagal kar rahe hain!

I agree with most of what masin wrote, but I disagree with this part:

"Raghav has always aced his role of a husband, even at the beginning when they couldn't stand each other. He never mistreated her in their marriage. He simply married her to bring his mom and sister home and he stood by that. He gave her space, he gave her access to anything and everything, and he pretty much let her take the lead in their relationship. If anything, he maintained an open communication and open door policy at his end, thus giving her free reign."

The definition of domestic abuse (mistreatment) includes:

  • indecency (Raghav jokingly pretended that he would take off his towel in front of Pallavi)
  • interfering in her work (Raghav hid the shop key from Pallavi, denying her access to her own workplace)
  • verbal abuse and devaluation of contributions to the home (Raghav called Pallavi "middle-class" as an insult and threw money at her for her thank-you cake; being drunk is not an excuse; alcohol lowers inhibitions and brings out a person's true nature)
  • stealing (Raghav stole the pen camera from under Pallavi's pillow)

All of this is not unforgivable by daily drama standards, but it all happened. Raghav did answer Pallavi honestly about his early life, and although he flirted in a ribald way, he waited for her to decide that they would share a bedroom and that she would say "I love you."
