Permission is what Anokhi is trying very hard to seek ( even though she is against it ) from her prospective in laws.
She has given all due respect and agreed to marriage provided that she’ll be allowed to continue her education. However all her requests are ignored.
Bms preachings against Astha and Shaan’s condition have left a deep scar on Ss. He is confident to choose a girl who keeps him above everything, little does he know that when he truly falls in love he would keep her dreams his top priority. He relates everything to his dad and mom and makes sure he doesn’t suffer through the heartache that his father is going through. Shaans outlook here is completely different to Ss’s. While shaan finds solace and thinks of those memories as his survival mechanism, ss thinks otherwise and feels that is what has caused his dad to suffer.
Does he think that true love can be forgotten by returning something materialistic like cards? What about the feeling of true love in your heart for the one you adore(if at all)? He could’ve thrown them away as well but wanted to hurt and insult Shagun in the process so sent them. His continuous staring at phone with the anticipation of a call/ message shows his desperation for attention or say to know how successful he was in hurting her even after he let go of her. BM is full on throwing attitude as if they are doing a favour to Shagun by not cancelling her seat at Cambridge. His ego is given a proper boost and assurance that he isn’t at fault by BM when she says all this.
Biji is so an example of what generations of patriarchy had made women into. Submission. It’s a shame that she being a woman straight away favours her grandson over grand daughter and dismisses Rama’s request to give her necklace to Anokhi. There is no feeling of equality at all. It bothers me that whatever generation women belong to how can you be so indifferent when you are being treated inferior.
Mr Bhalla is ready to take loans and sacrifice everything for the sake of marriage? Why? Usually people do these out of love but Mr Bhalla.. I don’t think so. Wants to get rid of another burden from his shoulders and he is confident of clearing all loans using his sons degree. Does he truly love his son? Did he ever think if his son was capable enough to reach his expectations?
Also he is unhappy that his daughter is so ungrateful to such a parent who is shipping her off to Canada. Does he think getting married to an NRI is the only dream his girl has? He very well knows what she wants, so how could he expect her to be grateful for something she isn’t happy with?
After seeing all these episodes in full I hate that Mr Bhalla has been redeemed so easily and even BM.
Rama is happy that Anokhi's marriage is fixed. So surprising. Is she not worried that they have not done any background check of Monty and his family and Anokhi would be very far away from them after marriage. And he is only 10th pass. Do Anokhi's parents even know about his qualification? Is just a NRI tag enough for them?
BM wants Shaurya to have an arranged marriage now. But Shaurya is too disturbed to think about marriage. He needs some time. And he considers his BM and BP's marriage as an ideal marriage. I think that is the only successful marriage that Shaurya has seen. BM just wants a daughter- law whom she can control. She is not bothered about Shaurya's feelings.
Even though Shaurya is angry with his father he feels bad for him. He feels his father's life was wasted because of his mom. When he sees that his father is still living in the past he decides to return all of Shagun's gifts back to her. He just wants to move on fast .But it was really easy for him to do because he never really loved her.
Mr Bhalla is worried about the demands from Monty's parents. But still he is least concerned about his daughter's life in Canada. And he wants Anokhi to be grateful to him for this marriage. I don't know how Anokhi could forgive all his mistakes so easily in the end.
I felt angry and sorry for Biji.
For women like her, suffering bring no awareness... I am sure, she must have felt the humiliation, violence and inequality in her lifetime as well. But it didn't make her sensitive to the suffering of her DIL or grand daughters...
The conditioning she has had over the years had let her think it's okay to be submissive and helpless in front of man, coz that's how women should be... She greyed her hair thinking that her grand-daughters will be no good to her son....
Went as far as emotional blackmailing Babli to have a child with her abusive husband... 😐
This series paints the true image of out society. The one that exists beyond our digital screens where such rigid patriarchy is a reality of many woman.
Some are like Aastha and Anokhi, who struggle to break away.
Some like Babli and Rama, who cannot break away.
And some like Biji who live under the stone and ignore it all the way.
Rama is happy. She thinks her daughter is getting away from all of this. To CANADA!!!! Little does she know how awful it would be for her.
Anokhi struggling to make everyone understand what she feels was heartbreaking but she still persisted.
Shaurya - Shaan...you really don't know who to feel bad for ? A son waking up an alcoholic father or a father wanting a sons acceptance. From the looks of it, it was not the first time for either of them. The scene was so nuanced. You don't see such scenes often. It was completely grey. The unfairness stings.
The way devi drills entitlement into shaurya...no wonder he had a certain thought process. Bhau like qualities...right...
Both Bhalla senior and devi feel that women should be indebted when married into a rich household. Different backgrounds, same thoughts.
Again some foreshadowing
The trinket falling onto anokhi's head..who knew at that time, it was for someone else only. Also, how devi said that Shaurya would not be able to refuse when he saw the girl...yes...infact he was so not able to stay away that he played the sindoor holi🤣
Also she has her entrance and shahan on same day and asks the same question...how will both happen.
