Since I've been watching the show. My friend told me about the VG parth controversy and if VG seriously did it and tbh he can.. he's always been a little too shady. That was shittt of him.

But honestly, I've had enough of egyptian and greek and roman mythology. Give me some old gods stuff from scotland and norway, iceland and romania. Give something really fun from chinese and Japanese and mongolian mythology. And have you read Russian mythology...its so good i just put my feet into by reading the "deathless". Took me 3 tries to get the hang of it... should've started with something lighter🤣

I've also developed a interest in native american and mexican mythology now a days. So there's that.

You're just looking at mainstream fanstasy arshi...you need to look deeper. Give me sometime, I'll send you a list.

There's also this new genre I'm exploring now a days..idk what it should be officially called🤣 but it's a mix of fantasy/paranormal and comedy. This genre tbh is such a light read na.. I'm loving it.

I haven't read much Russian myth BUT I do have an interest in the Tsars and the whole Rasputin/Anastasia history. I studied the Bolsheviks back in history class at school and have been fascinated with them since. I just added a book called Tsarina by Ellen Apsten to my TBR, which is about Catherine the Great and how she came to marry the Tsar. Obvs. very pulpy adaptation of history (being compared to Game of Thrones! 🤣) but seems interesting nonetheless.

I'd love more Norwegian/Scandinavian myth too, but I feel like Marvel has almost appropriated the "standard" versions of that at this point.

LOL it's been a while since I looked deeply into the fantasy genre tbf. It's not my first port of call so I do tend to only see what's obvious and heavily marketed on booktube/IG. Which tends to be overhyped and disappointing in the end!

Paranormal comedy is fun...what types of books are you reading?

TBH when it comes to fantasy/supernatural/paranormal, I have such SPECIFIC tastes that I tend to not find anything I enjoy too often. It's also hard to pinpoint what those tastes are 😆 but I just know when I read a blurb or the first few pages whether I'm going to enjoy it or not. I used to hate DNF-ing anything I'd picked up but these days I don't have the time or patience to sit through something I can't get into, so that narrows it down sometimes. I remember way back before the likes of Twilight etc. I was into this series of vampire stories by L.J Smith - Night World (when vampires were not as played out as they are now, obvs). I still have a bunch of these books on my shelves, though IDK if I'd have the same feelings or patience for them now if I tried to read them again 😆 but the nostalgia means I can't get rid of them!

@bold...i hate marvel for doing that to such a amazing mythology culture. People don't even look deeper into it!!

@bold 2...ik exactly what you're talking about yr. There are certain things in this genre that I just hate and would never pick up.

The Bewitched and Bewildered series might fall into this category.

Shelly laurenston,katie McAlister write some really good paranormal comedy..

Charley davidson series by darynda jones, undead and unwed, nice girls don't have fangs by molly harper, souless by gail carriger.

Chcek out their synopsis. JUST A WARNING: Some of them might just be really cliche/cringey but all of them are veryy light hearted and fun to read.
