As for house and other things, yes that is one facility which officers do get, but Virat doesn't actually make use of them. An officer, not just police, gets a bungalow. Virat should get a type V bungalow (shown in gadchiroli), but he lives in his own house of course. Also, as to why you never see any wife or family member of a police officer working hard in kitchen because officer also get followers appointed to their houses, not just one but usually two to three followers at least. Which again, is not shown here. And they don't have to pay for anything. But my point is, officers are appointed these by the govt., not because they earn a lot and they afford it for themselves. As for the reason behind these special treatments, that is for another topic.

In India people may show getting house allowance and live in family property .. the dispute is .. an IPs officer never gets posted in his home town even state .. so virat living in Nagpur is itself wrong ..

regarding the above topic why disparities in family the Chavan are selfish folks .. they have never supported their kids verbally .they kept their own daughter Devyani mad for years ..because her choice of partner did not suit them ..why will they care if Karishma is left hand to mouth .. she’s another ashwini to them

@Bold, there is no such rule. They can get posted in their home state. It is rare and I have seen a senior IPS officer interview whose wife is an IAS officer who got home state posting as she had listed as her first preference . I guess women officers might be asked for preferences not sure about men. Some even say those who hold good ranks in UPSC exams are given preference.

I was wondering... as I am not Indian nor live in Inida... does the IPS officers work for the whole country or state... I mean can an officer be posted in any city of the country ? Or is it like for example Virat can be posted only in Maharashtra or any other state of India ?

IPS officers belong to all India service meaning each of them is allocated a state and they call it a cadre. They are usually posted within the same cadre but they can be sent on deputation to another state or on central deputation . IPS officers are appointed by the Govt of India but they are managed by the State govt. I think only the president or PM or someone as powerful as them can dismiss them. They cannot be fired by the state govt. They can suspend them but they cannot be removed from the job so easily.

Edit: If two civil service officers are married then they can request to be posted in the same state so they can ask for transfers to the place close to where their spouse is posted.

IPS officers are under central Govt .. they are controlled by the union home ministry of India but state chief ministers also control them .. they can be posted anywhere

From what I know, usually IAS officers can list the cadre they prefer ( three choices ). They are usually posted within those states if there are openings. I believe its the same for IPS officers as well.

Of course, because thatbis the reasonal thing to do. Why live away from your family when you can live with them? The reason I wrote all those things was not to show the fault in the storyline but to explaim Virat's situation.

When it comes to police force, there are two things in India. One is the state one and the other is all nation wise.

The state one is by PCS (if in UP then UPPCS. In MP it is MPPCS). If you clear this you will get the job in the given state only, but the job is of low post and it will depend on your exam rank which post you will get, and this officer is known as PCS officer. If you got high rank and through promotion you got to the IPS rank which itself starts with ASP (ACP) then you will automatically become an IPS officer, but it will take many years, regardless of your starting post, and here you have to become SP (one rank higher than ASP) to be called an IPS.

However, the all india one is the IPS. Here you can get any state of India, which is called cadre. Usually, you are not appointed your home cadre but there is no specific rule. Here, the starting post in itself is an ASP (ACP) which is considered one of the top ranks. However, here the A stands for Assistant whereas if you become an ASP by PCS then A stands for Additional. Even the promotion to SP doesn't take too long, but it also depends on your rank in the competition. Thus, in IPS/ IAS the starting position is same for all, but the field and the time for your promotion is decided by the rank in the exam.

So, yes, an IPS officer can be appointed anywhere in India, even if you become an IPS through PCS.

Highly unlikely.. in India .. the retailers always under cut the police wallahs ..

Any shop virat will go to buy pendant or ring .. if by chance the shopkeeper knows he’s an ACP .. he will try to gift him off .. if not cut down making charges and give a hefty discount .. whether it’s right or wrong .. but it happens I have seen this ..

similarly the hotel where virat has taken Sai for honeymoon. Will charge him off peak rates and will try their level best .. to give off food and beverages gratis ..

because by his ID proof they would understand he’s a police guy .. and Sai is repeating Nagpur police party ..

they won’t show this in serial .. but India me police ke liye everything is free .. whether they demand or not
