I feel we defend a character because we somehow see ourselves in the character maybe, we feel we too would react in the same way in the given circumstances. ITV main isse pehle itna relatable character bana hi nahi tha, aur use itne realistically portray bhi nahi kiya gaya tha. So that's why we got emotionally attached I guess.

Not read it, but the author is Harper Lee right? I have heard it is a good book

You simply transcribed my emotions to words...

And that is the very same reason we could not buy any small distortion to the character no matter for what justification.

Although there were leads before whom were liked for the portrayal and style; and also couple whom were liked for their chemistry ,his character stood out by being real and relatable .And may also be revealing a tinch of our ideal self , which we too had hold behind at times because of the norms and normalizations

The strength of a character owing admiration beyond all his flaws as human is rarer than rare portrayal in itv. More so, an equally commendable presentation of role with conviction by actor was again a rarer combination...All the more to be adorned by a most unique bond which redefined all the norms by becoming something as pure as universal love, was infact a new experience ..

No matter what I would always have this sense of appreciation for the one who conceived them, especially whose brain child the original ARC was; who envisaged change much ahead of the time by himself being the camphor to lit the new fire.. burning his heart, love and even existence

you guys are too good....true human behaviour picturization....yes ...we love the fictional character if it is true to real ....somewhere if we can relate ourselves to it....in ITV there are very few characters written like this and played by the actors to the perfection.....I remember some of such characters in the old television....but I recent one is only ANi an Bon...with whom we lived the emotions...we cried when they cried...we laughed when they cried..... Such a power tht people like me n you returned to the TV....shayad last time....n def when little bit of deviation we see in that loved characters...we can not accept it....
