Ah ok ... Usually for me, first paragraph is like an introduction of education / years of experience in general field. Then second is where i highlight my experience / interest and how it applies to the job specifically. Third, I write a bit of research i did on the company and how/why I would be a good fit ; reason to look forward to this opportunity. Last, would be a closing statement.

I would keep it 1-1.5 page first part being your past experience and second part beinn your future plans (next 5 years) and then at last your long term goals to achieve.

i had provided SOP with reference to my research work when i was applying for PhD in universities....it mostly contained my field of education ,why was i interested in further research in the same topic...why i choose their university and what are my expectations from the university and my field of study ...just within 500 words provide them an insight into you ,your ambitions and your goals
