Actually mujhe romantic movies Achi Nahi lagti because usme build up Nahi hota.like even before you connect with the characters they fall in love, confess, sleep together and it's over.maybe that's why I like romance in daily soaps,books and fanfictions.slow and steady.❤️

@bold, I've steered clear of recent American TV and books because of the amount of instant love that is shown. I once read a beautiful re-telling of Mulan where the FL and ML started on the wrong foot and became enemies. The king ordered them to go on a mission to help the kingdom, and I kid you not, in 20 pages, these two went from hating each other, to confessing their love for each other, to sleeping with each other, to being willing to die for one another... in 20 pages of a book that it at least 350+ pages. It turned me off so fast.

It's why I steer clear of the romance genre in general unless I know it is a subplot when I read things promoted in America.

Whereas, if I watch something produced in Korea, China, Thailand, Philippines, India (especially ITV, not talking about movies), Turkey... I know there isn't as much instant love, so I give the romance genre a try 😂. My ideal ratio of romance should be 80% buildup + tension, 10% confessing or preparing to confess or understanding the new feelings, 10% post confession.

However, the one exception to instant love that I can tolerate is soulmate stories where the two characters wait an eternity to meet their soulmate and suddenly click once they find them.

@bold, already did 🤣 I've read translated Chinese, Korean, and Thai novels so far. Korean and Thai are manageable length, but man, these Chinese ones are long. The longest story that I've read so far was 700+ chapters and I think the main characters fell in love by chapter 550 or something. It was honestly a great build up 😍

But my body hated me for staying up at night 🤣

I have read one which was 1400 chappies and still counting

And the ppl weren’t in love yet🤣 they were skirting around and mildly flirting. And itna zyada bhi sehen shakti nahin hai meri!

Another one I read... the love came much later and even when it came it wasn’t mushy mushy one.

Both the leads stayed in character!
