Hi it looks like you misunderstood the point of my initial post. I in no way was defending virat's action but i can totally understand where he was coming from when he did that. Neither of us can say we havent done things in anger that we regret now.
I just made a point here that just because most of the members on the forum can relate to sai in terms of how she thinks and acts and use that as defense the same can be done for virat too if the things are thought through his perspective.
The most used trope of "domestic violence" here on the forum that most members use to make it sound like virat tortured his wife sounds a tad bit exaggerated to me since as her guardian he does have the tiniest bit of right for a firm discipline.
Most if not all children have had to be disciplined a little strictly atleast once in their lives and parents do rely on different methods for that. Some may ground their kids for a specific amount of time and the others spank their children. Although i do not condone spanking a child to get the point across the spanking isnt considered child abuse is it?
I totally agree that virat loses his control and the need of control and that tiniest bit of misogyny shines through his behavior time to time. Probably the unfortunate side effect of living with a controlling hard to please father and emotionally distant matriarch of the joint family.
But what sets virat and sai apart for me is the fact that virat tries his hardest to not let the ugly part of his being get control and when it does happen he apologises for his mistakes and atones for them sufficiently.
Sai on the other hand has that little "i know the best and i am always right" problem where she refuses to work on her character flaws and expects people to accept her as that. I dont see why anyone is obliged to love her when she speaks rudely and says things without even thinking through.
Virat is often targeted for the smallest of things saying he should have known better because he is an ACP and an IPS officer and i agree with a lot of points there but sai herself hasnt shown a lot of why she topped the entire state in her medical entrance exams.
Any student who has studied the basic bits of biology knows that stress for a heart patient can result in fatal health conditions. She knew of ninad's heart problems and yet decided that it was a good idea to manipulate and force them into coming for her show like that? We can all agree that ninad doesnt give two hoots about sai's life but surely the fear of prison can push an already sick person into severe stress and panic?
I would just like sai's faults being addressed as much as virat's faults are.
The only reason i feel soo strongly against sai about her faults is because of how poorly they are handled onscreen. Sai has never officially apologised to virat for what she does while virat has time and time again apologised whenever he felt he was in the wrong.
I am sorry if i looked like i was defending everything virat has done. Virat was a guardian and definitely should have handled this in a better way. There is no excuse for ousting a teenager out on the roads at night without a thought about her safety.
The thing that i am pissed about the most with virat is also for some reason the very thing that is least talked about in the forum. Virat was absolutely horrible to usha maushi. If the mistake was sai's for getting pulkit and devyani married he had no right to throw usha maushi out of the house too.
I do however apologise if i come off as a bit protective about virat and a little critical of sai
