I am absolutely in awe of how everyone finds virat controlling. Like are you sure you havent seen sai getting what she wants done by hook or crook? And i am sorry it isnt cute at all and i find it rather disturbing.
Virat had problematic parenting and it shows in his behavior. Sai too however had a flawed upbringing and i can 100% see the symptoms. Kamal joshi undoubtedly was a gem of a human being and a dutiful police officer but alas couldnt be a fit dad. Pampering your kid to the extent that they think they are entitled to have everything their way looks problematic to me.
Sai had no reason to force bhavani, ninad and omkar to drink their tea or stop them from drinking their tea in their respective rooms when she herself took her tea cup to her room after the fiasco.
The entire drama to call them to the function was again very very over the top and i dont see enough harshness being meted out to her for this. She is a teenager and is in strict need of discipline since it looks like neither kamal nor usha maushi bothered to ever discipline her.
Speaking your mind out is one thing but speaking without a filter and without a thought to the company and the way your point should be presented is rude and brattish. You do not throw meaningless challenges around for no reason at all.
I cant even see the point in bashing virat for ousting sai from the house after pulkit-devyani wedding. We as audience knew everything that happened and that pulkit was a decent man if also a coward. But virat didnt. For all he knew sai could have married his mentally unbalanced sister off to a rapist or a wimp who would proceed to sell his sister to a brothrel. The marriage laws in the country would have meant that as soon as the wedding was solemnised pulkit had the supreme say in matters concerning devyani legally, which coincidentally meant that devyani being mentally unstable would have been unable to ask for help from her family if pulkit ever did something to her and virat would have been unable to do anything about it without proofs. If my husband did that to my sister i sure as hell would have slapped him and pushed him out of the house too.
The only part where i feel virat was too harsh than what was necessary was when he held sai's hand to stop her from leaving the house to meet pulkit for lunch but that again could be explained by his worry for a teenager girl who is going out to meet some guy for lunch at his home without telling the guy's name even after asking repeatedly and wouldnt let him even drop her. That sure raises a security issue in mind, dont you think? And frankly even my father would have angrily yelled at me and would have told me to stay in my room if i tried to pull a stunt like that.
Virat stopping sai from having food after she came back home hungry from her visit was again understandable. I think virat even explained it himself that sai cannot behave like the house was a hotel. If she had fought the entire house on a brattish whim that she wanted to go for lunch with her professor surely she shouldnt have returned home hungry? And if she is indeed returning home hungry then maybe there was something wrong with what she said about where she was going? That definitely looked like a teenage rebellion and needed to be shot down? The execution could have definitely been better. But the notion of tagging virat a domestic violence perpetrator doesnt sit well with me and probably never will
