Sorry I don't think Bondita having a crush on Anirudh or having romantic feelings is demeaning in any way. In fact, it is but natural that she'd grow up to being attracted to him. She's an adult now and it's definitely not "demeaning" at all.

actually her saying of crush or even attraction would demean the bond (not platonic but their connection and eep love) and romnace comes as part of it -feelingsare not romantic , being romantic is feling(but she has never thought in that way and it is 1920 era)

Hmm... No offense please, but I don't quite understand and it's not very clear as to what you're saying. I think Bondita being attracted to Anirudh is extremely normal as that's how things worked in those times: for instance, Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore and his wife's life story is similar to what I'm saying in a lot of aspects. Women used to attain mental maturity very early on during those times.

And Bengali literature and history is full of stories of people who were childhood friends and then fell in love and got married eventually in adulthood.
