Chapter 15

After the science fair, the regular school routine started again!

Anokhi and Shaurya both had come much closer than before. Unknowingly both of them felt something towards the other. Shaurya, being all matured, suppressed his love and decided to move on but even after trying his best to control himself, he was drawn towards Anokhi. Her sweet innocent talks, her sweet smiles became a habit of his life. Their hearts recognized the connection but Anokhi's mind was still innocent and oblivious to all this, nevertheless gradually, little by little she was getting attracted to him as well, just like a magnet. She was doing things for him without realizing why….things like waiting for him to come for tuition class... waiting for his evening calls... finding excuses to talk to him, all this slowly became her normal routine.

Few weeks passed... Anokhi and Meenu's project was almost done!

Shaurya was very happy that they were the first ones to complete the coding and now their project was in the final stage of testing! Everyone in the class tested it by putting their date of birth and reading about their zodiac signs, the qualities, favorite color, favorite number, likes, dislikes, etc and they all loved it!! It was a fun and interesting concept.

After a couple weeks of testing and it working perfectly without any glitches, Shaurya decided it was ready to be printed.

Shaurya explained to the whole class about the printing format for the Project. "You all will need to get your projects printed and made as a bind book with your name, class, year and project's name on the first page."

One Student requested, "Sir, can we see one file as an example, perhaps a file of a student from last year?"

Shaurya with a puzzled expression "Yes, maybe, I will try to locate a file from last year and show it if I can find it!!!"

During tuition class

Anokhi asked Shaurya about the project "Sir all the things that we need to include on the first page of the project should we make it in word and get printed or are we supposed to write them ourselves??"

"You can actually do either of that but if you make it in word and then put it on a floppy along with the project and tell them to print and bind the whole thing together it will look much better." Shaurya suggested.

Anokhi nodded with a smile.

"Do you know any place where you can get this done??" Shaurya asked.

Anokhi thought for a minute but then shook her head "No, not really Sir!"

She looked at Meenu and asked "Do you know?"

"No, I don't but I am sure we can find out!" Meenu shrugged.

"Maybe I should get this printed and we can use it as an example for everyone to see so that they know what I mean!" Shaurya suggested.

"But... but we can…"

"It's okay, don't worry it's not a big deal, I will get it printed!" Shaurya said cutting Anokhi in between.

"Okay Sir!" Meenu replied and Anokhi agreed as well.

Anokhi's mind was again lost in thoughts 'How caring and thoughtful Sir is but why is he doing so much favor to us?'

Shaurya took the floppy disc with him and said he'll get it done during the weekend!

After Shaurya left

Anokhi to Meenu "Yaar why did you agree so quickly? We could have gotten it done ourselves."

"Are you crazy?" Meenu retorted.

Anokhi, surprised at her statement, asked "What!! Why? Why are you saying that?"

"Yaar when he is willing to get it done for us, then why not? Why should we trouble ourselves? We would have to look for the place that does this, then get it done. He knows what where how and he offered himself, we didn't ask him to do it for us." Meenu shrugged and said all this as it was the most obvious thing to do.

Anokhi with wide eyes "Yeah, you are just looking for an easy way out. But did you even once think that all this will cost money, it's not free you know."

"Yeah, so what. We will pay him back." Meenu replied nonchalantly.

"And you think he'll take money from us?? I mean who will ask him??" Anokhi asked.

"Okay fine, I will ask him, why are you getting so worried?" Meenu inquired.

Anokhi with a relieved expression "Good. You only ask him then."

'I didn't want him to do this because I have a feeling he won't take money from us for this and I don't like this idea. Maybe I will call him on Sunday evening and ask how much it costed? He would have gotten it done by then and we can pay him on Monday. Ya I will do this! Maybe on the phone he will tell me. And if he doesn't like it at least he won't get mad at me in front of everyone.

Sunday afternoon

*Tring tring* Anokhi's phone rang "Hello!"

"Hello! Are you busy?" Shaurya quickly asked.

Hearing Shaurya's voice Anokhi blushed a little and in a low tone she said "No! Why Sir?"

Shaurya in a hurry said "Ya I wanted to ask you something!"

Anokhi was relieved "Oh okay, I was just doing Accounts homework! What did you want to ask?"

Shaurya smirked and asked "You are doing homework with songs playing in the background??"

Anokhi stuttered "Uh...uh wo…"

"Okay first tell me, have you received your board's Roll Number yet? No, right?" Shaurya hurriedly asked.

Anokhi asked in confusion "No, why?"

"Hold on!"

Shaurya talking to someone "Just leave this space empty and print…"

Anokhi wondered 'Where is he and why is he asking for my Roll Number??'

Shaurya came back on the phone "Ya so I was saying…"

Anokhi couldn't hold her curiosity so cutting him in between, she asked "Why were you asking for my Roll Number?"

"Oh that! I was just making sure before getting your project printed, I thought I would get it printed if you have it or else leave empty space for it so you can write it later! I know it's too early to receive your Roll Number yet, but still I wanted to confirm!" Then in his mind he continued 'And talk to you while I wait.'

"Ohhh...you are getting the project printed! Okay."

"Hmm, so I was asking you, you do homework with music on in the background?" He teasingly asked.

Anokhi hesitatingly replied "Uh ya sometimes…"

Shaurya smiled "I remember doing that too, I still do actually, and when I go to sleep I have to have music on in the background!"

Anokhi with wide eyes "Wow I would have never imagined! I thought I was the only one to do that, Mumma always gets mad" Then she copied her Mom and spoke "Padh rahi hai ya Songs sunn rahi hai? Gaane chal rahe hain to padhne mein kaise dhyan lagega?"

Shaurya laughed hearing Anokhi copying her mother!

Shaurya teasingly asked "Tumhe naqal bhi utarni aati hai??" (You know how to copy people as well?)

Anokhi felt embarrassed. "No no I was trying to tell you what she says."

She heard Shaurya laughing and felt irritated. "Aap mera mazak uda rahe ho na??" (You are making fun of me, right??)

Shaurya suppressed his laughter now "No no, you were copying her so good, it was funny."

Time to change the topic, Anokhi thought. "Actually I was going to call you in the evening!"

Shaurya with curiosity asked "Really! Why?"

"Oh I just wanted to ask you how much the file is costing, so we can pay you back tomorrow. "

Shaurya with a frowning tone "What? You want to pay me back?"

Anokhi innocently replied "Uh yes, me and Meenu both want to pay you back!"

Shaurya realized he overreacted in his answer, then in a low tone he said "I see! No need to do that, it's okay!"

Anokhi with sarcasm and a sweet tone "Are you getting it printed for free??"

Shaurya was surprised by the question "Uh no!"

"Then why can't we pay you back?" She questioned back.

Shaurya smirks, "Hmmm okay! Well because you saved my time which I would have spent looking for an older file from last year and now I don't have to as I can show your project file to everyone as an example!"

Anokhi with a persistent tone "Oh but still we should pay you back."

Shaurya finally gave up and said "Okay! Why don't you help me with something else instead of paying me money?"

Anokhi with a frown asked "What?? Help you?? With what?? What can I possibly help you with??"

Shaurya with a little smirk "Of course you can! Look, now that your own project is done you can help your other classmates, solve the problems in their projects! I know you are good at catching and fixing mistakes so it will be a big help, especially when I'm not around!"

After hearing this, the only thing Anokhi's mind seemed to register was Shaurya's last line "especially when I'm not around"

Anokhi quickly asked "What do you mean when you are not around??? Where are you going??" She started panicking.

Shaurya realized what he had blurted out. Now trying to convince Anokhi he said "I am not going anywhere (not yet), I mean if I am busy or something! Anyway there are so many projects, they all need help and if you do this I will have less work."

Anokhi, still reeling from his earlier statement asked again "You are not going anywhere?? Pakka na??"

Shaurya replied "Yes I am here only!"

Shaurya thought to himself. 'Sorry! For now this is all I can say, as even I don't know for sure so what can I tell you.'

Anokhi reluctantly agreed "Okay, I will help you but I would still like to pay you for the file."

Shaurya got irritated. "Okay fine pay me but then don't help me! You can do one of them only, decide which one!"

Anokhi, a bit scared and in a low tone, said "Please don't get mad, I will not pay you. Okay? Just don't get mad at me, please."

Shaurya felt bad about his outburst hearing Anokhi's scared voice so he took a deep breath to calm himself down.

Shaurya now in a calm voice said "I am not mad at you! I am just saying you don't have to pay me for the file."

Anokhi replied in a low voice, "Okay!"

Shaurya trying to change the topic and cheer Anokhi up "By the way you didn't tell which songs were you listening to??"

Anokhi with an exciting tone "Oh they are from the new movie 'Kareeb', Babli di got the audio cassette yesterday only. That one."

"Have you seen the movie as well?" Shaurya asked.

"No, not yet. But I have heard all the songs, very nice songs."

Shaurya mischievously said, "Oh really, why don't you sing a song for me from that movie."

"What?! Uh...I don't know how to sing." Anokhi lied.

Shaurya smirked and casually said "But I have heard you singing, you sing so good. "

Anokhi surprisingly asked "What? When did you hear me singing?"

"Once you were sitting on the swing and singing when I came for Tuition."

Anokhi shyly asked "When?"

Shaurya smiled and said "Forget about when I heard you singing. Sing a song now."

Anokhi blushed "Uh no no no, I can't sing, anyway I have to go with Mumma. I have a dentist appointment."

"Oh, you have to go now?" Shaurya asked feeling disappointed.

"No, not yet. In a bit I have to go."

Shaurya smiled and asked "Okay! Who is your favorite actor???"

Anokhi excitedly said, "Shahrukh Khan. Who is yours??"

"Mine is Dev Anand."

Anokhi with a frown expression "What? Dev Anand? But isn't he a very old actor?"

Shaurya chuckled "Yes he is, but when I was a kid I used to watch a lot of his movies with my father. So I also started liking him and eventually he became my favorite."

"Ohhh...okay!" Anokhi replied in understanding. Then she asked "Is the file ready?"

"No, not yet. Do you have to leave? Are you getting late?"

"Umm ya kind of. Mumma must be waiting now." Anokhi hesitantly replied.

Shaurya reluctantly said "Yes yes, no problem you go. I will show you the file tomorrow."

Anokhi excitedly replied "Wow I can't wait to see it. Thank you sooo much for doing this!"

The excitement in her voice made Shaurya smile and soon they hung up the phone!

It is based on 90's which I really liked it, first time I reading such story I loved it 🥰 , it's like yeh un dino ki baat hai

Telephone calls, radio, new computer era, scooter really loved it .

Here we have Shaurya n Anokhi as teacher n student again, a very cute yet simple love story 💞
