Just a question came into my mind . Since I belong to North India for us Karwa Chauth is the most important.

I think Maharashtrian don’t celebrate karwa chauth so this must be as special as karwa chauth or Teez . Everyone in my family celebrate vat Savitri except me ( since my in-laws family don’t follow the ritual yet I always had a choice to follow it ) . As a kid I observed that vat Savitri is not as important as karwa chauth for North Indian but they do celebrate it .

Well Vat Savitri story is Savitri brings back her Hubby Satyavan from Death... Seeing her effort Yamraj change his decision.. Give Satyavan his life back

Savitri does pooja... Banyan tree 7 rounds. Banyan symbols long life.... Metaphor

But its not very compulsory... Fast is not like North India.. Like in north No water no food... In fact In Maharashtra we ate double during fast 🤣

No hubby required in Vat Savitri... He can be anywhere.. But he needs to be alive 😆

Only pooja... Banyan tree rounds also not compulsory...to Each of own.

Only married ladies does.....

So story is similar somewhat to Karwa Chauth . Yes Karwa chauth is the tough one 😆 . My mom use to eat that special stuff right after pooja so it was like oh this is not that special 😆. I forgot what it is called sweet and salty small balls kind of thing .

That pooja done by unmarried and married both ladies... That's Parvati pooja for Shiv.. Hence ladies do it to have hubby like Lord Shiv

Yes those who don’t follow karwa chauth in north usually celebrate teej . It’s either one of it for us . Teej is the hardest of all since they don’t eat anything for 24 hours except water or fruits in evening . Next Morning after pooja they eat . But again it’s different everywhere .
