The vat pournima promo shown is basically mix of vat pournima and karwachauth because being a maharashtrian and married I know in vat pournima husbands doesn’t feed water or anything to wives.

It's irritating when they butcher festivals and traditions like this

More than half of the main cast is Marathi. Could the makers not ask them or they just don't care if they are correct or not?

I guess since it’s being aired kn star plus and it’s in Hindi they wanted to relate it to karvachauth 😭

They are not showing the originality of festival because they think that people will attract to the word vat savitri and the rituals being same as karwachauth will draw them in

We generally keep fast, go to a nearby temple or garden or where ever there is a big Vata tree. Nowadays many people just bring a twig of the plant to home.

Then we do normal pooja of the plant like haldi-kumkum arpan karna, dhoop, diya, agarbatti, phool, etc. then main part is tying a thick thread to the plant while doing its pradakshina 7 times.

Then praying for your husband's well being and Naivedya (bhoga) chadhana.

That's it.

Vat Savitri without vada tree + the water drinking bit

~ Dressed up traditionally but doing sorta Karva Chauth?!

I get when they are trying to fit dialogues per Hindi audience, but atleast traditions should be showed with authenticity na? It has a good intent too ~ Maybe your larger audience also gets to learn something new, rather than see an entire festival celebrated incorrectly, per cultural representation of the leads :|

People In UP Bihar and MP celebrate Vata Savitri too. In fact many don’t celebrate Karva chauth. So it funny the promo shows bat Savitri without the vata vriksha or bargad ka ped. Also in karwa chauth this pani pilana is a Punjab custom which was which became norm kind because of cinema abd television. No pani pilana no channi se chand dekhna in our fanily ( marwadi) from UP. TB shows just make things up.

Yes, I am aware that people all over India celebrate Vat Savitri ~ North, South, East and West as per cultural communities, and none of it includes paani pilaana, but has the banyan tree and the thread ceremony where married women circle it 7 times and tie it to protect their husbands. Kinda like a bonding moment for all the women in the family and community coz you all go to that sacred place and conduct the rituals. In most cases, husbands are usually not even present there while pooja is happening. What I meant was that those who do not know of it in the Hindi audience will be able to learn something new if they are authentic. Otherwise you are literally telling people there is no difference between Karwa Chauth and Vat Savitri.

Okay Thank you for explaining 🤗

I feel it's high time ITV started following traditions as it is rather than to conform to their notions of things.

The paani pilana and ek wish puri karna now seems like a joke. 😆

Like in our side we celebrate Teej. In fact karwa chauth is mainly celebrated by punjabis but due to bollywood it's become so over hyped😆

But what we saw it's just a promo so maybe in the main episode they might follow the tradition better.
