It was finally Shakhi suhaagraat time after an eventful marriage.. Well they were finally in their room after completing numerous other post-marriage rituals and..

"Agar tum pehle washroom use karna chaho to jaa sakti ho" said Shaurya trying to make her comfortable in the new room..

"Umm, haan mai pehle jaati hu.." Anokhi ran into the washroom escaping the space which was becoming too hot for her with the way her new husband was staring at her.. She locked the door behind her and started remembering all that happened over the past week and how her life changed forever.. It was then she decided her adorable husband needed to be taught a lesson for lying to her initially although she understood his reasoning behind it..

"Ab aap dekhiye Mr Shaurya Sabherwal ki Mrs Shaurya Sabherwal kya karti hai!! Aapko ye suhaagraat hamesa ke liye yaad rahegi.." 😉

It was 45 mins before Shaurya knocked on the door.. He wanted her to get settled by herself and didn't want to disturb her.. But it seems his new wife decided to get settled in the washroom instead of the room..

"Thik ho tum Anokhi?? Kuch chahiye??"

"Haan ji, bas bahaar aayi.."

It was 15 mins later that the door opened.. Shaurya ran to her checking her for any signs of discomfort but his wife was grinning from ear to ear..

"Aisa kya mila washroom mai jo tum itni khus ho?"

"Wo actually mai andar Economic Survey padh rahi thi.. And acha lag raha apni galti samajhke.. Ye jaruri nahi hota hamara dil jo bole, wo sahi ho.. Hamesa dimag se sochna chahiye.."

"Ye dil-dimaag ki baat kaunse saal ke kaunse volume mai likhi hai?? And ek min, tum bahaar naa aake andar padh rahi thi?? Bahaar aake bhi to padh sakti thi.." 😉

"Bahaar bahut saare distracting cheeze thi so I preferred to read there.."

Shaurya walked towards her and pulled her towards himself.. The left hand around her waist kept her at place when she tried to escape..

"Are you calling me a distraction wifey??"😉

"Nahi mai to ye bol rahi hu my opinion regarding farmloan waivers changed!!"

"Kya??"

Anokhi escaped from his clutches and went to sit on the sofa..

"Dekhiye whenever I used to read about farmer suicides, I used to feel really bad.. Even after 75 years of independence, we haven't been able to implement sustainable agriculture and loan waivers seemed the obvious solution to me.. I thought it was the best possible way to support them.. But data shows it isn't.. When more than 50% of the people who need support aren't even connected to the formal banking sector, the waivers aren't really reaching to all the people who might need it.. And aapko sabse imp baat pata hai??"

Shaurya looked at the excitement and twinkling eyes of his beautiful wife who was somehow more interested in economics and banks than him now and thought to humour her for sometime..

"Sabse imp baat kya hai?"

"Data analysis shows defaults start mostly before elections as if many are waiting for the next government to announce a waiver.. Agar itne baar same solution kaam nahi kar raha, may be we should try something else.."

She looked into her phone furrowing her brows in concentration..

"What is this "something else" you want to try??"

"Mai kuch nahi kar rahi.. Mai to bas ye soch rahi ki iske alaawa aur kya solution ho sakta.." she replied concentrating more on her phone screen not even looking at him once.. He should have broken that offending piece of gadget before.. His wife didn't even show tiny bit of interest in him and that too on their suhaagraat..

"Anokhi aaj hamari..."

"Haan I need your help.."

She looked at him with those puppy eyes.. He walked towards the sofa kneeled infront of her and caressed her beautiful face..

"Bola na kya kar sakta hu tumhare liye?? Aaj to hamari suhaagraat hai na and I should be gifting you something.. Jo chaahe maang lo.."

She clasped his other hand between both of hers and gave him a smile..

"Ek paper publish karana chahti hu mai issi topic pe.. To kya aap mere liye dusre articles, data and contacts dhund dijiye na.."

"Offcourse Mrs Sabherwal mai kal he tumhaare liye.." Her face fell..

"Kal? Mujhe laga we could do it now.. Matlab mai itni jyada excited.."

He could see her tearing up..

"Abhi karenge hum.. Just let me use washroom and come back.."

He gave her a chaste kiss on her forehead and went inside the washroom to regroup his thoughts..

"Control Shaurya control.. Itna kuch change ho gaya bichari ki life mai itne kam time mai.. Agar raat ko usse farmers discuss karke khusi mil rahi to tu yahi karega.. Itna to kar he sakta hai.. Yahi to chahiye tha usse- ek supportive, understanding husband.." Shaurya thought to himself while brushing his teeth..

He walked back into the room, hit something and doubled over.. Anokhi ran to him and helped him stand upright..

"Aap thik ho? Kahin lagi to nahi??"

"Nahi nahi thik hu mai.. Chinta mat karo.." he assured her..

She started looking for balm to apply.. He noticed a small table infront of the bathroom door which he was sure was there in another corner of his room last time he checked..

"Umm Anokhi ye table yahan kaise aaya?

"Wo maine daala hai bhootni ke liye.. I am really sorry mai bhul gayi thi aap washroom mai ho.." she replied looking apologetic.. She pulled him towards the bed and made him sit on it..

"Bhootni kaun hai?"

"Mujhe kya pata kaun hai.. Bas ye pata hai ki raat ko jab hum lights off kardete wo agar washroom mai chupi ho to bahaar aake hamla karti.." she replied while applying balm on his hurt knee..

Shaurya was confused.. This wasn't the woman he had interviewed or fallen in love with.. Did he marry the wrong woman somehow?? Heck, she wasn't even the woman he left in his room 15 mind ago.. His Anokhi always talked logically and this woman was sprouting nonsense or atleast her words made no sense to him..

"Kya bol rahi ho Anokhi??"

She looked at him as if he had grown two heads and questioned, "Aapne kabhi bachpan mai bhootni, daayan, pisaach ki kahani nahi suni??"

"Suni hai, but wo sach nahi hote and why would a bhootni aatmaa or whatever trip on a table?? Aren't they supposed to be only a wandering soul?" Shaurya questioned back trying to make sense of her illogical mess..

"Aapko bada pata hai aatmaa ke baare mai jaise aapne Phd unhi pe ki hai!! Ab mujhe ye table waala tareeka thik laga to mai try karungi.. So jaate hai, mujhe aapse aur jhagda nahi karna.." She walked to the left side of the bed and pulled duvet on herself..

"Meri baat to suno.."

"Acha hum to reasearch karne waale the na farmers pe.."

Still no response.. It seemed now his wife was angry about something he had no clue about.. He thought to do the next talking on bed where he had more control over her somehow.. 😉

He removed the duvet to see that the right side of bed was completely wet..

"Ye kya hai Anokhi?"

She turned and hissed at him..

"Paani pee rahi thi gir gaya.."

"Itna paani gir gaya?? Pee rahi thi ki naha rahi thi??"

"Achaa ji ab is baat pe bhi sunaaiye mujhe.. So jaaiye aap is side mai jaa rahi sofe pe.."

She started angrily walking towards the sofa and was pulled back..

"Kyun gussa ho?? So jaao aaram se yahan?? Mai sofe pe so jaaunga.. Jis baat ke liye bhi gussa ho, I am sorry.."

"Thik hai, apology accepted.."

She went back inside the duvet.. Shaurya looked at the small sofa and deduced the carpeted floor was a better option actually the only available one considering his injured leg..

He put the pillow on the carpet and switched off the lights.. Sometime later, he felt her head on his outstretched arm and a small hand on his stomach..

"Kya hua? Neend nahi aa rahi.."

"Shaadi isliye nahi ki thi ki bed pe akele so jaaun pati ke bina.."

He pulled her closer and breathed in her scent and slept peacefully..
