IDK - we'll see. I'm currently reading and learning more about the Empire and its effects across countries it colonised, so in a way this comes at the perfect time to intersect with that interest...even if it will be fictionalised/romanticised to some extent.

Then again, I'm not really engaging much with ITV at the moment, so it would have to be something special to keep my interest.

Ideally I'd have liked to see both/either of them doing web shows next - the state of ITV is unbearable right now to say the least 🤔 - but I guess covid put the kibosh on anything more interesting they might have been thinking of doing.

@D - I'm good, thanks, how are you doing?

@bold which book are you reading?? As in source?? I've always wanted to delve into it deeper esp. the affects of that era on today's generation but I can't seem to find a unbaised source.

British and 1st world country sources are all baised and seem to state as if british did a favor on colonies while books by colonial authors seem stuck on making britishers as demons who need to killed with a pitchfork.

As for how I'm doing, meh... it's going ok. I have exams coming up but the motivation is seriously lacking esp. since it's maths and i hate it. So I've been forcing myself to study atleast 2 hours a day. I'm not optimistic about this one

He's always performed well...bunty aur babli, guru... he just receives flak because he hasn't/doesn't want to reach the superstardom his father reached.

This makes sense. Considering that his entire family and Aishwarya had this superstardom .... he seems to 'dim' in comparison. People constantly make him out to be this terrible actor who cant act to save his life. I didnt really pay attention to him first but ever since this movie though, I have found him to be a great actor. He seems to really get into the skin of the characters he does and has an aura. I feel he does angsty roles especially well .

Also D. Besttttt of Luck for your papers! Sending you wishes of productivity for the remaining days 😆❤️.

Looking at the theme and backdrop of Vidrohi though, it makes more sense as to why Sharad picked it up. I was confused as to why he's want to do a historical after Maharana since it seemed like he wanted to diversify. But this one's set in a different era so he may have more scope with the character and setting. I guess we might just have more than one insider on this.. if all of us dont end up watching it 😆.

Also what is Namkeen Ishq? 😲

P.S. So we stick to Cheelu ki Chandu since we're all on this! Whenever you're free and up for it Huma. @Arshi I wouldnt say I moved away from SharBhi. We've gotten here through common love for these two afterall. Still fangirling over them. Any news of them and I'd feel that craze and hype all over again. If any one would get this, its you guys. But .. I look at them a little differently now. But I also still love them. Hoping this make sense 😅. Could be just me though.

@D - I'm reading Empireland by Sathnam Sanghera, a British journalist. It's a good, accessible read - he pulls from a lot of sources so once I'm done I'll be having a look at some of those as well. I find it fairly balanced re: the good and bad discussions re: empire, though of course him being a descendant of people who suffered at the hands of the British, there's bound to be some bias. But I'm 'enjoying' it so far - if that's the right word - I've never really read too deeply on the subject before. They don't teach us about colonialism or the British Empire at school here...barely gets a mention and then when it does it's in glorious, triumphant terms. And then of course B-wood movies are all very biased in a different way. So I hear you on trying to find sources that are relatively even-keeled in discussing that history.

But of course the effects of the empire were felt not only in India/Pakistan, but around the world in so many countries. So many conflicts and geopolitical tensions we see now in the world have some root cause in imperialism, and the British have traditionally had a big part to play in that. When we look at what's going on in the Middle East, and Hong Kong/China, and huge swathes of Africa...so much of that has its roots in British imperialism. The thing that struck me most is that empire lasted for much, more longer than we typically think it did. Conversations about colonialism tend to be about - IME - its latter days and the obvious and famous examples of India and the Partition, but there were centuries of successful colonisations before that, and they weren't under one neat, collective organisation either. It was all just a mish-mash of conflicting ideologies under a broad banner of imperialism. A fascinating subject to me, as you can tell from the essay 😆

Good luck re: the exam - I used to love maths, but that said, exams are the absolute worst. You said it's at the end of the month, right? Not long to go now!

@Nikki - yeah, I get you. Personally speaking, I always knew there'd be a time when the content would dry up re: those two, but like you, if ever there's any news of them I'll be the first to feel that craze come rushing back. (On that note, would it kill them to give us one interaction - just one, measly, tiny like on a post? ) Also my love for the DI instrumental (show version) has been renewed since I've been listening to it a lot recently. It is a BANGER.

Re: AB Junior...I think it was around the time of Guru that I realised what a nuanced actor he is. The tragedy with him is that he was always compared, from movie one, to his father at the height of his career, and that was never going to help him stand out. In the beginning I feel like he did lots of movies just to live up to being his father's son...but now I feel like he's much more comfortable in his own skin and chooses projects based on his own interest and not to bust some box office target. Plus he's always remained so humble and self-aware, despite the constant trolling from people accusing him of being inferior to his father/wife.

Yes, I too want to know what is "namkeen ishq" 🤔 is it a spin-off? Please tell me it's a spin-off 🤣

He is really a great actor. And I'd go as far as to say better than his father.😬 He has this nuance in his acting that brings out the complexity of the character.

And as a person as well... really calm and collected. His thoughts if you've heard his interviews are very sorted. Not that I've heard many!!😆 Imo he never really wanted/wants the kind of superstardom aish and amitabh have.

Thanks babe. I need it. I don't feel very well about this paper.🥺😌💖

Also....how do you guys do it?? Hats off to your discipline man!! I have my fast today. The one i told you guys about, without food and water till next Morning.

Nina...where thou at?? Gayab as always. Come back!!
