No I mean of course designers always existed before but it was a very Manish Malhotra centric stye. Sonam teamed up with Anamika Khanna and really innovated the sari game and put it on the map.

Even the confluence between Indian designers and celebrities on red carpet was quite lackustre but she did boost a whole level of stylization that didn't exist. There WERE no stylists before.

Well, even the most successful and ambitious actresses become laid back after marriage. Look at Deepika, she was at the top of her game..after marriage you don't see the same drive in her.

Also pandemic has stalled a lot of projects for everyone.

Sonam was never too ambitious or a good/successful actress anyway. She seems to be enjoying her life in London with her rich hubby. Good for her.

Don't know too much other than he owns a fashion label and has a fancy degree from some elite business school. His family is old money apparently.

I liked Sonam's choices in films - she brought chick flicks back (films like Aisha, Dolly ki doli, Khoobsurat, Veere di wedding). Did an LGBT themed film when it was still not legal - that was quite bold of a mainstream actress like her. Did good films like Neerja, Raanjhanaa, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.

More than anything she introduced Fawad Khan to Bollywood and she deserves a Padmashri for that very reason. 😆

Yes it did feel like her first love was fashion and not films, but I also think that she may not be getting good offers anymore, which could possibly be another reason for her lack of enthusiasm.

Am I the only one who liked Veerey di wedding? Damn it was such an entertaining movie!

She is not a good actress. She might not have any movie offers that's why she decided to settle in London. She might be planning to start a family.

I liked veere di wedding and loved the songs in it. But I hated dolly ki movie, the worst movie I have ever seen, very similar to Thank you horrible movies but they had a good cast for the movie but movie was horrible. I have not seen movie she did with fawad, I have not seen raanjhanaa. On topic, actresses take break after marriage and come back to movies their movies flop and then they complain that audience don’t accept married women. You don’t see married men taking breaks after marriage. That’s why Kareena kapoor wins this married with kids she kept working every year, of course she does like one movie a year and working with A list actors and producers but at least it’s something. But before Kareena, older generation actresses like Jaya, sharmila, Hema, and etc they continued working as a wife and a mother. But if Sonam deepika can afford to take breaks good for them.

Sonam, I personally feel, is a terrible actress. I've enjoyed a few films she was in of course but not because of her work per se. The only film I've enjoyed HER work in was Neerja. One thing I will say is she introduced great talent into Bollywood. Be it Fawad or Dhanush (who were already established and amazing in their craft in other industries). The only thing I'll remember her for is her terrible behavior. Since her "talent" didn't outshine her behaviour, it always seemed to take the limelight in her case. Otherwise, many actresses like Kareena, Alia, and even PC have a very obnoxious foot in the mouth behaviour like her but have the talent for it to not outshine their work.
