Virat turned and tossed in bed but found no respite. He sat up and came out of his room. He kept walking briskly until his feet reached towards the door. He put his hand on the knob but a voice called out his name.
"Godu!" Ashwini called out to him and something made him tear up.
Why does it always happen? I can be strong in front of the whole world but one call from you aayi and I turn into that little kid who wants to complain about the whole world to you. Feels like you will swing your magical wand and everything will be fine again.
Virat smiled despite the tears and turned.
"Ho aayi!"
"Kya hua? Kuthe?" A worried Ashwini asked with concern coming towards him.
Virat started walking towards her too.
He looked straight into her eyes and felt all the burden coming back to his heart.
"Aa...yi" he felt his voice unintentionally heavy. He tried to compose himself but was failing miserably. Still he tried to stand straight.
Ashwini touched his cheek and he couldn't handle anymore as tears streamed down his face.
"Kya hua Godu?" Ashwini became anxious.
Virat couldn't speak. Ashwini took his hand and led him to the couch. She made him sit there and she herself sat beside him.
"Ab bata."
"Kuch nahi aayi. Bas..." Virat lied down in her lap and closed his eyes, "...thoda sa thak gaya hu."
"Jo kuch bhi hai. Yaad rakh. Main hu." Ashwini put her hand on his head.
"Janta hu Aayi. Ek tu hi to hai. Meri Jadu ki gudiya." Virat opened his eyes and looked in the distance, "lekin bade hote hote pata chal jata hai ki jadu wadu jaisi koi cheez nahi hoti duniya mein."
"Koi tension hai?" Ashwini asked caressing his head gently.
"Tujhe yaad hai aayi. Main fourth standard mein fail ho gaya tha."
"Arre. Tu fail thodi hua tha. Tu to..."
"... Net practice kar raha tha." Virat completed it for her smiling, "yahi kaha tha tune. Yaad hai mujhe" his smile disappeared suddenly, "aaj lagta hai tera Godu phir se fail ho gaya hai."
"Aisa kyun bol raha hai?" Ashwini kept her calm hiding her worries.
"Sab kuch hath se phisal raha hai Aayi. Aisa lagta hai jaise kuch bhi mere bas mein nahi hai."
Ashwini kept caressing his head without interrupting him.
"Maine to hamesha se jo bhi faisle liye hamare parivar ki bhalai ke bare mein sochkar hi liye. Ye sochkar ki wahi sahi hai. Phir bhi sab kuch hamesha bigad kyun jata hai aayi? Main kyun hamesha katghare mein lakar khada kar diya jata hu? Aur mujhe katghare mein khade karne wale log mere apne hi kyun hote hain? Kya mujhe faisle lene chhod dene chahiye?"
Ashwini wiped his tears but kept on caressing his head in a single motion.
"Nahi Godu! Pata hai Insaan jo bhi faisle leta hai us waqt mein yahi such kar leta hai ki wahi sahi hai. Par un faislon ka anjam faisle lene wale ke nahi, waqt ke hath mein hota hai. Tu apne aapko us cheez ke liye kasoorwar thehra raha hai jo tere hath mein hai hi nahi."
"Phir kya hai mere hath mein Aayi?" Virat sat up straight and looked into his mother's eyes for his answers.
"Insaan ke hath mein sirf itna hota hai ki faisle lete waqt uski niyat sahi ho. Baki sab..." Ashwini looked up," ...ooparwale ke hath mein chhod dena chahiye." She looked ahead and found Virat smiling.
Suddenly he felt like a fourth grader again who came with a problem to his Aayi. And his Aayi swung her magic wand and everything was perfect again.
