They want to show us that Sai is misunderstanding Virat and force us to sympathize with Pakhi. Why would they give 10 minutes of Devyani's roleplay to Pakhi. Just to make viewers to sympathize with her. It's because of Ayesha that we are rightly understanding Sai's emotions or else it would have been a disaster.

It is his in nature to avoid issues, to avoid confrontation. Even when alone, he is not good at voicing out his emotions, he doesn't know how to act or respond at situations like this. He keeps watching people, observing what they have got to say and forms opinion of them based on those.

One thing that he immediately gathered was when Sonali asked Sai why should it bother her when she calls it a deal marriage. It caught his attention immediately and he looked at Sai to get the answer. He then started to look at almost everything keeping that in his head because even he had the same confusion. He must have been glad Sonali asked it because he cannot or could not ask it himself.

He fails in mahy ways to stand up for her and that is why his love is not a strong one that one can confidently send their daughter or friend or sister with him. That is why many are not able to trust him to be the right partner for Sai. Him saying I love you Sai isn't enough.
