The answer to the question is "NO".
"Well, it can be assumed that audience find it interesting to see how lead characters who are poles apart eventually stand for each other, start liking and caring for each other and lastly falling in love."
For some reason, the only way to get people to know each other is to trap them into marriage and lock them in the same room! The state of ITV is truly bad!!
Seriously! This is so stupid. And what is the guarantee people will start liking each other? Oh yeah! ITV logic. And I don’t get it. We are in 2021. Why is marriage the only do all, end all of every relationship.
This getting married for family honor, gets on my nerves. How shallow is your family honor that it gets shattered coz of a broken marriage?
Also people consume these kinds shows year after year after year. No wonder Sitara doesn’t want progressive shows. People give attention to only this kinda crap.
I used to watch Ghum, coz of the fierce and independent FL. But my god! The mental trauma that show puts her through and ultimately the audience is horrible.
The fact that in 2021 you can’t show people dating/living together to get to know each other before promising commitment is laughable. It’s still all about adarsh bahu, ghar ki izzat, padosi ki izzat, family honor and all that crap!!

Meh.. I don’t think so! ITV still has a long way to go I feel. I don’t know what’s the fascination to show a forced relationship between two people who dislike each other ( or have no connect)🤦🏻♀️
Sone might argue that Saakk has forced marriage too. Maybe it was true initially, but it was included to address the character’s impulsive nature. There is a whole different meaning and purpose to it. Plus more importantly they were in love.
To establish a love story out of a forced relation is where I have the problem with. Real life doesn’t work like that. They need to stop fantasizing these scenarios and putting ideas in foolish young minds.
Oh yes!! Trapping two people together, who clearly dislike each other and expecting n hoping them to fall in love sounds so mental.
People have romance confused with something else.

I don't disagree that SAAKK's actually wedding was forced. I'm glad Anokhi stated the truth of that to Shaurya's face. Until the end of that episode where she accepted her new role, I wasn't on board. And the purpose isn't to put them in the same room and have them fall in love. Which is what all these other marriages are for. Get married for family's honor or blackmail. Then do cutesy stuff until you start to fall for your captor.
I think the reason these shows fly is because arranged marriage is still the norm. And it makes those trp auntys feel better that marriage with no love in the beginning can end happy. And ITV doesn't like to show anything but romance......very rarely do they do these forced marriages that end in abuse and violence. It's a weird sanskaari bunch!
I hate that we still continue to cultivate this thinking.
Sanskaari my foot.
Like turning your wife upside down to see if she has stolen money??
10 years back Ipkknd was my favorite show. But today when I think back, to all that Arnav put her through, manhandled her, makes me wanna throw up.
I was also pissed off with the Sindhoor marriage. Even though they loved each other. But consent matters! A lot! And once Anokhi gave hers, I was ok with it.
But some of these other shows. God! Blackmail marriage n family honor nonsense, boils my blood.
Guys have you seen this. Chaand ki dhulai and craziness

@bold: The amount of times I've screamed this line, even at my parents, about how weak family honor or male fragility is in Indian society, is innumerable.
I understand the attraction to see something in fiction that you wouldn't support elsewhere, but the fact that it's a trend worries me. Like our narrow view point in society is so suffocating.
I've watched a lot of ASR-type male leads and loved them. But I've also had access and awareness of a lot of other things, to not accept such crap in my real life.
I'm highly doubtful Indian society will every change if this is the fodder they're fed. I still watch some clips of Ghum here and there. I like Sai and that's about it. I don't understand why adults have to live with emotional abuse because they're blood related. That family izzat topic is given too much importance....India is still a nation that has honor killings.
I would love to see a daily soap succeed that actually had people live together before marriage and their family isn't scandalized. How does the screen of "marriage" protect someone's izzat?
I would be an anarchist if I wasn't brought up in desi society, I think. I don't get how human beings decided that we'll go to school from 3 to 21, then work, then marry, then produce children many times over, then wait to die!
It is 2021!
