Not really no. The fact that the audience actually gets what the baseline of this story is shows they are pretty progressive. Yeh jo jhand laga ke rakha hai story ki, that is the mistake of only the writers.

But the viewers have to punish them with less trps so they reset the writing back to the original baseline. The writer log will continue to dish out any ridiculous changes to the baseline as long as they do not get a substantial backlash. Tv viewers have to evolve too. That is also a part of the equation.
