Actually Gayu, I think after Swara's death, he changed as a person. I think after dealing with 5 years of misery and pain, Swara's death completely unhinged him. He took his anger out on Kalyani, which was ofc wrong, but after Mlksh came back, he stabilized and became very much like no matter what, I won't be mahaan and give up my family, especially Kalyani and Moksh. And now, he's more expressive about his feelings to Kalyani, more romantic, doesn't take anything for granted anymore. Doesn't fall for anyone's fake sympathy ploys.

Even his marriage to Kallu, he can say it was for revenge, but I feel he was just sick of being mahaan and sacrificing himself for others, and turning the other cheek when someone hit him. Old Malhar wouldn't ever take the law in his hands or prioritize his family above duty.

Yes Swara's death broke him completely. Already the five years he had been living in depression. It poured out.

People suffering from depressions do not have control over their actions.

But glad he's over it and Moksh and Kalyani have healed him.

Also di his near death situation in mission made him like that too

Like may be he felt he had is his family kallu everything and he retrospected I believe seeing death thrice in a go

He wanted to live a life after moksh came and he didn't have a belief that he can make it back to his family and have them ever

So once back he is over possessive and not willing to loose what he gained after a lot of pain
