I don’t either. They should be left to do as they wish freely. Shivangi is now always asked about her use of IG and being compared to Sai. She is consistent in her reply that it’s not something she is into but she is now trying. She also said her friends ask her this too. I find it sad that there is this expectation us viewers have of how actors should behave to entertain us beyond their work. Yes admire them from afar but that’s it. We ourselves don’t like expectations of us so why expect from them?
As much as I believe in personal space, their occupation is also based hugely on public perception. Interactions and segments are not for nothing, they also attract viewers (I myself have started watching shows simply after watching a cast's iv and segments). Movies have posters, some of them have entire promo tours dedicated to them, but shows can only rely on SM to promote themselves. If the PH or channel is urging them to do their part, it is for the show's benefit and their own. The more they post, the more they interact, the more they stay on in people's minds. I don't think it'd matter much if the show was a typical trp-aunty targeted show, but this one targets a slightly younger audience. For a show that did not have a trp rise even after a shaadi track, it's natural for them to start looking for more effective ways to promote themselves. And SM is, without a doubt, the most effective of them all — or else youtubers and instagrammers would not be paid to act as influencers. It's harsh, but it's also how the world works today.
It's not about "expecting" them to do it really, rather about utilising all the resources for the show's benefit. The leads are both newbies, this is almost a part of the job description 😅
