He doesn’t know about the torture. He decides to take kamalika away and privately disclose everything to her without anyone’s interference. So they can talk about it and she can have some time away from everyone dealing with it with him there to explain everything (idk if this is correct but this is what I gauged from clips and summaries).

I have heard, in IK, the storyline was even more controversial than here and they had portrayed all the relationships in much more of detail and nuanced manner than here. Imlie is very much watered down. So who knows? Maybe the hm track won’t happen at all or maybe they’ll show him being forced and he’ll decide ke bas theek hai udhar hi bata deta hoon. Many of aditya imlie scenes and tracks were cut too. Plus malini’s character is very different from kamalika’s. Kamalika’s character sketch was 10 times better than Malini’s.
