I was hoping things will be better in this show, with the story being set in Hyderabad, a city where hindi is widely spoken compared to the rest of the southern states. Correct me if I'm wrong, but apart from Raghav, the accent of the rest of the Telugu characters sound very forced and much like the stereotype, especially Krishna and Reddy in the initial episodes.

Not to mention, the penchant to just club the cultures of five states to a single entity. They played the malayalam portion of Jiya Jale in the pilot episode to introduce Hyderabad and played Vaathi Coming, a tamil song in a "telugu dance" challenge. They also played a song from KGF, a Kannada movie in one of the episodes. Now I am wondering, have they ever played a telugu song in the show ?

Wow that's a very nice observation by you. Yes the directors should be careful on these parts ! Totally agree with you

I'm not sure if they used the telugu versions of the tamil and kannada songs. Still, they could have gone with some real telugu songs. But that intro scene with the malayalam portion of "punchiri thanji konjikko" was just so bad. I don't know if it's because makers felt that South Indian languages could be used interchangeably, but it's as bad as let's say, introducing Kolkata with a punjabi song.👎🏼

Yes I understand. Actually coming from North I don't understand the difference between the languages when I hear it but definitely for people from South who watch it will be irritating. So I didn't know the songs they were using apart from jiya jale. They should make it authentic to garner more appreciation.

Bollywood has been long known to stereotype south and it's high time that they start acknowledging it.

But I also appreciate the fact that they cast a Telugu actor for the main lead rather than have a Hindi speaking actor and let him say some Telugu lines.
