No one is trying to take over her life. They will accept Ian if that's who she wants. But she has to make the final choice. All they can do is advise her, which her mom did. And Nidhi did too - to an extent.

This is a life choice that Sara has to make because she's the one that will face the consequences of that choice!

I like to think my characters are evolved and intelligent enough to behave in a manner that is logical and well-thought out. Unlike characters in Hindi soaps that are unfortunately made to behave dramatically just for effect or for the sake of TRP drama! I don't have those constraints, so I can write characters the way I want to, and I want to read (and write) about people who I can like and root for. I want to be able to write about people who are facing some troubles (like you and me) but find the courage and the morality within themselves to still stay decent and good, and not turn into evil, twisted, negative, tortured characters who go about hurting everyone they meet - which is what Hindi soaps are usually about - because then they can have wonderful redemption arcs and then people can feel like they've been on a journey that has changed them and made them better people.

But what if the protagonists are good people, despite the troubles they have? I feel like there are not enough stories about such people because it's just boring, right? Who wants to read about regular people? But I do, and I always have, and that's why I wanted to write about them too. And lately, I find myself feeling uncomfortable when the protagonist of a book I'm reading or a show I'm watching behaves in a manner that is just not right. I feel like, as an audience, we excuse bad behaviour in such protagonists because the authors tell us to, and portray them as 'heroes' that deserve a happy ending. We root for them because we're supposed to root for them and therefore we excuse all of their bad behaviour putting it down to all the bad experiences they've had, or the trauma they've faced. But I've begun to think that just facing trauma doesn't give someone a license to behave like a d*ck. There are good people in this world who still behave like decent human beings and do the right thing, despite all the sh*t they've gone through. And I feel such people deserve more attention.

I love Ryan and I love Sara not just because they're characters I created but because they're both inherently good people. And I think that good people need to win. And have happy endings.

Sorry, for the lecture! I'll stop now.

And all this Ryan's connection happened in a short time frame....which did not give her time to weigh options....and Ashutosh added to it by inviting Ian.....

When the relation is in developing stage, Ian entered and tried to go ahead with engagement which they would have discussed before leaving to India....

Sara did not get time to discuss as she did not go back to Ian and stayed with him and discussed future with changed situation...

2. Mother's past story come out first time from Asha...

So much of contrast in personalities.....Ian and Ryan....

Ian - Safety and security - not giving much value to Sara as an individual

Ryan - Nothing to offer but man of character and pushing Sara to achieve her life's missed goals...or wish..

Well, yes the connection with Ryan did happen in a short timeframe, but it’s a deep one still. Strong connections can be formed very quickly. Besides Sara and Ian’s relationship was already going through some rifts (she wanted to come to India and he didn’t want her to; he was pushing her to marry and she wanted to wait). So these issues were there already. Sara wasn’t happy when Ian came to India. She needed the space to figure things out. But instead of giving her space, Ian began crowding her. And although the job at NCC is her dream, he didn’t even discuss the implications of it with her. He just assumed she’d be happy to marry him and work as his spouse with him at NCC. Then he went ahead and proposed in public knowing the kind of person Sara is. She’d never want to hurt or embarrass him by refusing him publicly. And you’re right, it’s the middle of the wedding and she has so much on her mind and they haven’t had time to discuss things. She’s still not had a chance to think through what it meant to accept or reject Ian’s proposal. Everything that happened in this chapter- the conversations with Chloe, Nidhi, her mother, Simon, Jai, little Nirvaan and even Ian, and then the final realization when she’s with Ryan, has helped her come closer to making that decision- whether or not she wants to be with Ian. And clearly the ending of the chapter indicates that she has made that decision. Now all that remains is for her to implement it.

Ashutosh and Nidhi’s incompatibility? Why do you say that? Is it because of their contrasting personalities?

Yes you got their characters correctly!

Ryan respects Sara as an individual and wants her to act by herself, think for herself and do things because she wants them and not because someone else is forcing her to.

And Ian is offering her everything she wants in terms of material comforts but nothing in terms of emotional comforts!

It’s actually a clear choice for Sara- to go for physical and material stability or to fulfill her emotional needs!

Yes! When I was watching KTLK I found ways on my FF to explain away the age difference but looking at it pragmatically, I can see how it would pose a problem in their married lives. And also, it makes me slightly uncomfortable now! So, yeah!

They think the cat might have messed up the cards tags while they were busy ermmm..eating dessert! ☺️

Sara was about to make a list but she saw that the cards were all messed up..

Ryan came up with the solution to have generic thank you notes.

That problem didn't get sorted actually, I think Sara has more important things to worry about! 😆
