I don't think versatility of any singer tested this season. Almost everyone are in their comfort zone most of the time. With westren/rock/pop style only SMP is comfortable not even any male singers are well versed in that genre in this season so channel is always looking to get her sing that so that they have variety between singers. Unfortunately that made SMP branded to that genre.

How much favour they are doing clearly visible last week. But irrespective of what channel does I want to see how Vishal reacts to SMP now. Will he go with the flow and ignore SMP or will be true to himself and be same as before. Because iam sure he genuinely appreciate her not for the sake of show from start.

I recently came across an old SMP YouTube video singing " kuhu kuhu bole koyaliya". I thought her classical there was very good. Can someone post that link in the forum pls?

I don't live in India so most of the videos are not uploaded in this country. I hope someone else if they find can post. But I saw that before that's really good. There should be surmayi akhiyon me also which is also very good. I don't remember which show she sang. But I know she can sing classical and western equally well.

One more if you are interested. The kid who can pick the sargams from someone's laugh at that age is being shown as she doesn't know classical is the most frustrating fact.

Anjali and SMP both have talent to win but dont have a massive fan base which is needed for this show. That too now Sony is not even promoting both of them. See they have released everyone promo except SMP and Anjali. Iam not sure where they will end in show but in real life they will be successful.

Fan bases are built by contestants through their public connect. Unfortunately, almost all mainstream music reality shows are finally judged by the public. Channels, Judges, Production teams, etc can mould public opinion to an extent - but an extent only.
In two past tries on mainstream talent shows SMP was unable to make serious headway with the public. Her talent was undoubted in both.
Anjali won a top kids show as a wildcard entry in her 1st attempt. She was a joint winner, but the back story is that she actually got the most votes in the finals. Her inability to achieve the same success this time is very shocking. Two of the judges are the same as last time, despite which, her struggle in IL12 is squarely attributable to negative performance sentiments. She finished bottom 5 so many times!
I don't profess to have deep musical knowledge so I can't find the reason for Anjali's lack of success with both the judges and the public (who know her from before as a winner). Maybe she chose the wrong year to compete in. Who knows.

That's the irony of these shows. Mostly may be the reason for none of the winners making big even after gaining popularity because they lack the real talent. Sometimes I can't understand public also singers like Neha have more than 55 million followers Shreya ghosal just have half of those. So personally I won't really care if the singer is appreciated by public or not. They did lot of hard work to gain those talents and I believe hardwork never go wasted. May take time but at some point SMP and Anjali both will find success.

Finally they released SMP promo. She is too good as usual. I love it. The song is sounding better than original in her voice.
