"The rise and rise of Pankaj Tripathi, Shefali Shah, Manoj Bajpayee, Pratik Gandhi and Jaideep Ahlawat among others after the massive success of their respective web projects have proved that OTT stars don’t necessarily need to have their muscles perpetually pumped, magic hair, dazzling smiles, or extraordinary dance skills. These actors certainly don’t fit into Bollywood stereotypes but they have succeeded on streaming platforms because of their perseverance and great acting talent that they have not been credited enough for in the movie space.

There are so many other actors who deserve special mention for pushing the envelope and redefining the meaning of stardom through their brilliant work on the streaming platforms. Divyenndu (Mirzapur), Sheeba Chaddha (Bandish Bandits), Tripti Dimri (Bulbbul), Rasika Dugal (Delhi Crime, Mirzapur and A Suitable Boy), Barun Sobti (Asur and Halahal), Sayani Gupta (Inside Edge, Four More Shots Please and Axone), Abhishek Banerjee (Paatal Lok), Jitendra Kumar (Panchayat), Kirti Kulhari (Four More Shots Please! and Criminal Justice: Behind Closed Doors), and Arshad Warsi (Asur) are some of the actors who won over the audiences with their marvelous acting skills."

I think both will have their places going forward. OTT will experiment with mainstream BW for a while before figuring out RoI is low for them. Budget is too high with their fees and unnecessary expenditure. Eventually, decisions will be made depending on the bottomline. OTT, I hope, will be a place for solid storytelling, which includes good acting.

OTT content was such a blessing during quarantine. And not just because there was nothing else to watch but it was such good stuff filled with talented actors. I really hope I get to see more Abhishek Banarjee and Pratik Gandhi.

OTT stardom does not really exist .People are watching these OTT Stars mainly because it is free of cost .Real stardom is still gauged by no of people who are ready to pay to watch you perform!

For one, you have to pay for Netflix and Amazon Prime. They gauge success by how many subscribers they can get. I'd give it 5-6 years to see what the platforms are doing. If they stick on in India, it means they're making money.

What I don't get is why Amazon/Netflix don't start charging a nominal amount per viewing as opposed to subscribership. Or do they, and I simply don't know it (because I already subscribe to both)?

For another, Indian audience was used to rubbish to mediocre performances being passed off as great. Now they know there are better options at a cheaper cost. They now know a show/movie with certain actors is likely to be more entertaining than what they got before. We shall see how it goes after pandemic.

I believe there will be a place for both for the forseeable future. EVentually, it will be Bollywood which will lose. As audience gets more educated and aware, they *will* start demanding better quality. If mainstream Bollywood refuses to change its ways, audience will then turn completely to OTT.

of course you have to pay for those streaming platforms but you are not exclusively paying for these ott stars .There is huge content available so its impossible to tell whether consumer is paying for these stars or not ..Per viewing model does not work because nobody is ready to pay that way that too for one show ..subscription is the only way ..Yes BOTH Bollywood/OTT can coexist but I do believe only big movies should release on big screen and smaller ones should directly premier on OTT!
