How does someone get selected for man of match? Is it based on sixes or runs?

The player who contributed most for winning match gets MOM award like batsman with most runs or bowlers with wickets or allrounder with some good runs and wickets.

Yesterday Dhawan not only made runs but took 3 catches too.

In RCB vs MI patel got MOM because he took 5 wickets with good economy.
