Hello!
Another one from me!
This is a very short one shot (it rhymes!😆)
It's a Rajvi-Shobhit duo story.
--------
Title: Mamta.
Note: italics is Rajvi's thought process.
--------
Rajvi paced across her room. A particular issue had been persistently nagging her.
'I just don't get it. Why am I so hard on Shobu? Darsh is fine and I am so proud of him! Why can't I be proud of Shobhit too?
I mean, hasn't he apologized a hundred times to all of us? I do know that he repents that day and that he still feels guilty. Maybe it human nature to hold onto one single mistake of others and ignore all the good they have in them. I can't believe I fell for that bias. Why!'
Her thoughts raced and she was in a fix that hadn't been untangled in 3 years.
Someone calling her name brought her out of her introspection.
"Ma, Darsh bhaiya apko bula rahe hai."
Called a voice that so couldn't ignore, not this time. For the past 3 years she had been ignoring him, treating him less than a son, as if he didn't matter, as if he was no one. But her heart ached and she had no clue as to why she behaved in such a way but she knew it had to stop. She reprimanded herself for being such a poor excuse of a mother. She had to make amends, it was now or never. She had been treating him in a way no mother should ever treat her child.
She had come back to her senses.
She went out of her room as quickly as her steps could take her, going in direction of his voice. A few more steps and she stood right behind him as he typed away on the phone unknown to what life was going to give him next.
In a swift movement Rajvi turned him to face her and his face immediately contorted into a visibly fearful one and squeezed his eyes shut. He couldn't see her anger and hatred reflecting on her face anymore. He prayed to Dwarkadheesh to save him from his mother's wrath and the lord did just that.
The next moment he was enveloped in a warm embrace. He stood still wondering if this was a dream and that it would vanish once he woke up.
But it wasn't.
His mother, who he had believed to be a stone cold lady, especially towards him, was hugging him. She was sobbing heavily indicating by her trembling self. He quickly wrapped his hands around his mother's back and cherished the moment lest it would be snatched away from him.
"Shobu, I am sorry. I am so so so sorry beta. Mujhe maaf kardo. Meri mamta pe parda padh gaya tha ki maine apne dusre bete ko struggle karte hue nahi dekha. Bas uski galtiya hi dikhi mujhe har baar."
Her voice quavered as she expressed her feelings, almost plead for him to forgive her.
"Shh shh ma it's okay. Galti ki maine and I deserve it."
"Nahi Shobu, you don't and you never did. It was my fault ki main bas ek galti pakad ke baith gayi aur tumhari sab acchi points ko ignore kiya. I'm sorry.."
"Ma, it's okay.."
Shobhit tried to pacify his mother, wiping away the tears that were strewn across her face as she gave him a genuine smile and a peck on his forehead, something he had longed in these 3 years of emotional distancing from his mother. After 3 years he felt his heart swell with happiness, contentment and peace while hers swelled with pride for her younger son.
There! You have It!
