Devdas was basically a loser of the highest order- totally useless in any form or fashion to the mankind.

Kabir Singh on the other hand, the only redeeming factor is that he is an exceptional Medical Doctor!

They were both toxic but Devdas wins by a long shot.

Kabir Singh might have met the same fate Devdas did, had he not gotten the girl at the end. But he never set out to inflict emotional torture on Preeti by making her watch him kill himself a little every single day with little to no power in her hands to change that.

Devdas was much more abusive than Kabir. People who cause self-harm to inflict emotional torture on others are abusive on another level and I don't think Kabir Singh ever intended to do that to Preeti. At most, he spun out of control after the breakup.

Devdas by a huge margin.

Intent matters. Both were abusive jerks, but Devdas intended to be abusive, to the point he staged a melodramatic death at Paro's home, thus possibly (had she lived) ruining her husband's trust in her.

Kabir Singh IMO. Kabir Singh was a man who redefined the word 'toxic' to the extent that his love is essentially a stream of controlling, abusive behaviour and taking his partner more as a tool for exercising violent misogyny.

Devdas was self-destructive and spineless, but Kabir Singh was the more toxic one because he could not differentiate between love and malignant behaviour. Every action of his reinforces the poisonous misogyny embedded in his veins, be it seeing Preeti more as a prop than an actual living, breathing partner with agency, or his bouts of uncontrollable rage which doubles up as a metaphor for the virulent and noxious feeling of possessing his beloved.

Also, this toxicity and unhinged behaviour which Kabir Singh exemplified can no way be equated with Devdas' addiction and his victim complex.

Both are pathetic lovers and do not deserve to be iconoclast in the least.

Wow, you really abhor everything Kabir Singh entails in a woman's life, don't you? 😆

Kabir came across as someone with a personality disorder more than an out and out misogynist to me. He yells at his friends, staff, maid, and the girls' family alike. If he's problematic, we conveniently forget that she is complicit in it all. His violence is also not restricted to the girl in his life, he's like that with everyone but love brings out the worst side of him. It's established since the beginning of the movie that Kabir doesn't have a grip on his anger. I mean, who chases their maid the way he does? He's like a high-functioning sociopath.

I also think there's a reason he's a surgeon in the movie ... most of them come across as complete jerks in real too. Something to do with being in charge of people's lives and the God complex that comes with it. I blame that ridiculous "courtship" on patriarchy and the age old idea of "romance" that some people emulate to this day.

To me, nothing beats the level of abuse Dev inflicts on Paro and his family by drinking himself to death. It's the ultimate "EFF YOU" to everyone just cuz he didn't get things his way. I'd much rather be with a Kabir Singh who takes action to turn things around than be with a Devdas if I had to pick my poison.😆

i dont get this comparison .Devdas was spineless and self-destructive .he wasn't a control freak .he doesnt tell Paro what to do what not to .

Kabir Singh was violent misogynist who treats Preeti like a prop.
