But the scene where Shaurya tears off the rustication letter in front of everyone with that light smile and full glance on Anokhi was so cheesy. I don’t know but I felt it was a bit out of character for Shaurya. Maybe he has started acting out of character when Anokhi is concerned. It was made so evident today that he would go to any extend for saving Anokhi.

@bold: Well said. Enough has been said on the forum about Shaurya's jealousy and his unfair words and the fact he is constantly in Anokhi's personal space but we still don't see any realization of romantic feelings on either end which makes me think maybe the answer for his accusation "loose character" is grounded in simple protectiveness. We are only thinking jealousy because we know where the story is headed.

His reaction to Anokhi in general are a jumble of several unrelated emotion. He is her professor and feels protective of her. This was obvious in riot incident where he risked his life to save her and his thought process was as her teacher, he was responsible for her safety. To top it, he knows she is new to Chandigarh, looks naive/innocent and does not know many people. He is smart enough to understand that her BIL is not supportive of her and is not a dependable family member. She is intimately associated with his parents with whom he shares a love/hate relationship. She also seems to land in one trouble or another since she landed in Chandigarh and his school and or family has been associated every single time in some ways. In all in some ways he sees himself as her guardian and protector even if it has not been conveyed and explicitly stated and he is not particularly pleased about it either.

If we stretch this logic a little, he sees as a third party that there is something fishy about the way Ahir is acting. In an normal circumstances anyone in his position would see the Ahir and Anokhi interactions as Ahir is trying to hit on her and Anokhi not being averse to it . Ofcourse we as viewers know that Anokhi is innocent even to make sense out of it but in his shoes, he is wondering if she wants that attention, if yes why and if she does not want that attention why is she not pushing back or maybe she does not realize what she is inviting in which case she going to end in a real bad situation because the person chasing her is law enforcement. Of course he defaults to worst conclusion and spews the venom because he has never come across anyone that innocent. He even comments that anyone can see Ahir likes her, how could Anokhi not know. This is where his upbringing, insecurities and jealousy kick in- if she wanted a protector who was rich and good looking why would she not pick him over Ahir or maybe she is playing with them both with proper amount of push and pull.

The situation is further complicated by the fact that he risked his life to save hers but Ahir took the credit while he was being painted as an irresponsible person who ditched her in middle of riot and failed her(this accusation was his biggest fear when he stuck to her in riot). To him Ahir took the advantage of the situation and Anokhi lapped it up which is unacceptable.

As for all the touching, he does not believe he has any romantic feelings yet or sexual thoughts so his touch is impersonal and more grounded in the self appointed role of her teacher and guardian. He has been pretty respectful of her comfort level for most part except in the incident when he lost it and said all the ugly things. I don't think he even realizes he is touching her most of the time because he sees her as his student/ward not a woman. Shaurya has a problem with Ahir touching her and Anokhi's comfort with it because he believes Ahir sees Anokhi as a woman and she is accepting that kind of attention. Again he has never met anyone as naive as Anokhi and seems to forget she is not worldly wise and only 19. In some ways Anokhi is so innocent because she was educated in women university and was brought up in a very conservative environment, what does she know about boys in general.

However his emotions are changing, he feels a bond with Anokhi and a capability to be himself. She is is not prostrating at his feets like everyone else and seems unimpressed with his power, riches and good looks. She is honest, passionate, driven, intelligent, opinionated and mule headed and he is grudgingly impressed by it. She also idolizes his mother who he believes is worst example of womanhood. In some ways she poses a challenge to him in all ways possible. She thinks he is irresponsible, unfair, vengeful, chauvinistic, overrated child-man who is living a charmed life and judges everyone outside of his glass palace and that is driving him crazy. It is upto him to prove to her that he is none of those things and she misjudged him. His cheesy smile when he tore up the rustication letter seemed to be more about his pride in proving that he was fair. He seemed to be asking her -are you impressed? or do you accept that I had nothing to do with this fiasco and I resolved the issue fairly for you and are you thankful now?

@bold so true when you say he is having a jumble of unrelated emotions, emotions which are all new to him. Like he was thinking, many students came and went so what is it about Anokhi. He started feeling protective as her teacher but as time passed the equation is changing. Like he said today I know her more than any of you. It was more of a personal acknowledge than a teacher that he knows her as a person and trusts her. I had read someone mentioning on the messages that it would have been good to see some flashbacks over his relationship with Shagun. We could have then got more idea about what he is thinking. As of now he is still coming as that male chauvinist who feels the female gender needs protection and he has always from day one felt that Anokhi is naive and prone to trouble.

I completely agree with you; he can see that Ahir sees her in a different light and that irks him. He is frustrated by her lack of knowledge and I feel that has made him follow her everywhere where Ahir is present and when she shirks him away, he gets angry. It doesn't give him any rights to show her such baseless behaviour but he doesn't even seem to understand that he is showing a ruthless attitude to her.

I had said the same sometime back that he has no romantic intentions when he touches Anokhi. He is just comfortable with her. Like today he first pulled her hand to lead her and then realising, pushed her by her arm. It's as if the writers want to specifically show that Shaurya's mind is blank around Anokhi, he just doesn't know what he is doing nor how he is reacting. Poor Anokhi is already fed up with all the trouble in the college and this man confuses her and effects her as well. She has no clue what to think of him. Sometimes I feel no wonder she is fine with the ACP. It's a no brainer zone, completely safe as far as Anokhi is concerned.

So true, it says it all and the pride in his face that can you see I've not let you down like you thought. Nowadays he is turning more into a teenager than a teacher around her 😆

So true....if it was real life...i will vouch for ACP..shaurya's misogynist nature won't go any where..even if he really starts loving her...he will still be insecure..it will suffocate her...and the toxic house..any girl should stay..miles away from it

I have a slightly different opinion here. Shaurya is not a hard core misogynist (dictionary says it means prejudiced against women). In fact he seems to display no bias in his class as of yet based on gender. He seems to have no question in their capabilities either. He was super proud of Anokhi.

He seems to have two completely different thought processes running through his head at once- Women are weak creatures that need the protection of a man. The ones that don't need the protection or are career oriented tend to be selfish creatures who put themselves foremost and destroy families and hence the fabric of society. It is very obvious to see where that thought process is coming from given his experiences. There are two types of women in his circle - weak and dependent (or pretending to be dependent) on men folks and following their will like his Badi Maa, aunt and sister in law. They have managed to keep family together despite the personal price they have paid. The other set of women he knows is his mother and Shagun, who circumstantially ended up placing themselves ahead of their family/prospective spouse and destroying that relationship. There is no example of a woman in his life who has managed to balance both aspects. There is also no conversation about the dreams, aspirations and capabilities of women in Sabherwal house. He has been fed prejudiced crap all his life. He probably went out on a limb to fight his family to allow Shagun to continue working but she broke his trust and chose her aspirations over him. she wanted to have that conversation with him but probably too late. From his perspective, she was telling him what she wanted and not having a conversation/discussion.

The point is if he comes across a person with whom he can have a honest conversation without the yoke of expectations and see that there are ways to balance different aspects of life, he will change gradually but it requires certain factors. A strong and balanced counterpart not afraid to share her point of view- Anokhi is perfect. and distance from that toxic household without raising any warning bells - his daily tour to Patiala is perfect.

I am hoping that instead of rushing through the romance or placing both the protagonists in the same household, makers would choose to show slow progression of healing, understanding and love. Maybe Anokhi continues to stay in flat while Shaurya drops in once in a while to check on her or tutor her. The couple treasure their sporadic time together and look forward to it all the while falling unknowingly in love. They discuss their, expectations from future spouses, career aspirations, dreams and experiences and that leads Shaurya to look at his past with new eyes. Other option is she moves to Patiala branch, stays in hostel and maybe works part time as Shaurya's assistant to make money.

I feel in this particular case it is important for them to be good friends without any romantic feelings first. If we rush through romance and love, Shaurya will be stuck in his current mindset and Anokhi will continue to be naive and a rebel and they will have no appreciation or understanding of each other.
