Shaurya Saberwal - I'm NOT melting!

I'm just here to analyse SS for the week.

So let's keep his disgusting words on Monday and Tuesday aside for sometime, because if we analyse those statements, it will only disgust us 😆. So, the man called Anokhi names and bashed her in his anger and jealousy. He presented us with a hidden side to his personality and we were shocked and heartbroken , much like Anokhi currently is.

Now, we seem to be melting cause the man is truly acting all in love and is being adorable right now. But let's backtrack. He said ,at the episode end of Tuesday's episode, post seeing Ahir-Anokhi togther that he is happy he didn't apologise, cause she dosen't deserve it. Now, guys, this is not because of jealousy. These are his thoughts on women who come from that background. He certainly dosen't see Anokhi as a golddiger. But he has seen his own mother that ways, so he doubts her intent. He doubts that Anokhi will turn out to just use men, how his mother did. He knows she has something about her that attracts ppl to her , because he himself is very attracted. He is always insecure that men can see what he sees in her and she will just go with them cause she sees her benefit in it. This is his thinking. I don't think this is debatable, cause after his father blasted on him, he still went on to spew his dirty thoughts. He told her that she complained to the right person and knows how to get her work done. If this is not ghatiya thinking, I don't really know what is. In his mind, Shagun treated him as a backup to Cambridge, if Cambridge dosen't happen - she will marry him. Here is the insecurity, root of all issues. His main issue is no one chooses him - so why should Anokhi?

Now why did he soften when he saw her cry? Because despite all this, his feelings still exist.

He wants all her attention, he wants to be around her and certainly wants her to smile at him - All symptoms of falling for someone. Does he realise this? - NO. The guy has a certain image of a girl in his mind, a Saberwal bahu, who is ideally supposed to be his life partner. Now, Anokhi is certainly not that girl. She's jiddi, adiyal, has a spark, and certainly wants to make a career, and he knows this. She has big dreams and will never back down from pursuing it, and he knows this too. This rejects Anokhi from being his partner. Infact, he didn't even see her as one, still dosen't. He has never felt love and dosen't know why he feels restless around her.

Now coming to being proud of her topping the exams. Yes, he's extremely proud of her cause, surprise, if you didn't figure out yet, he's not against women studying . He is against them leaving him. He feels they tend to leave the man and the family for their careers. Backtrack and remember , he was happy and proud of Shagun that she got into Cambridge. He dosen't have those ego issues, that she will rise above me. He has a mindset issue, he thinks she will leave him. This is his biggest fear.

But there is one thing that Anokhi has certainly managed to change about him- His need of someone to make him the center of their world, a typical Saberwal thinking.

No, the need is not completely changes, he still wants that, but he has a new need of making someone the center of his world. He is in a situation where his heart wants to make her the center of his entire universe. He is literally in a helpless state. He knows that he isn't the center of her universe and yet he can't help it. First of all, he needs to get over this need, this insecurity. I feel his insecurity might not fully go away, it will just be reduced over time.

To conclude, Shaurya is reedemable , only if he sees the wrong in his thinking. His beliefs and thinking is so strong that he thinks he is right. He might apologize now, but his beliefs are far more deep rooted and are certain to arise. He needs to have alot of patience and also he needs to build a high level of trust with Anokhi. Only then, will they both be happy in the long run.

Also, I'm not going to call Shaurya's need for her creepy. It's certainly cute, but it is also his instinct. He dosen't think alot when he's protecting her. It's literally his instinct. Even in his emotionally worse states (Astha's deady body identification), his instinct was to look out for Anokhi, and will always be.

Shaurya was proud of Anokhi as his student. However, if and when he looks at her as his prospective bride, will he be as proud as he was shown today? I doubt it. Will love really change him? Because if he lets Anokhi work just because he wants her as his wife at all cost, it will be rules bended for Anokhi. It won't really promote gender equality.

It’s a beautiful analysis and I agree with it completely. Shaurya has never been loved unconditionally. His mother left him when he was a kid and his dad’s priority has always been his wife.

Devi has been his mother but all she’s done is spew hate against his mother. Still somewhere deep down Shaurya doesn’t accept her as his mother. He respects her and is thankful to her for raising him.

Shaurya has unknowingly fallen for Anokhi and it irks him to see Anokhi with Ahir. He is feeling rejected all over again.

So I guess you are right. Shaurya might apologise now but he’ll take a lot of time to get over his insecurity. Also, Anokhi will have to keep convincing him that he is her first priority.

I know it’s not ideal but people who suffer from this sort of insecurity have to be reassured time and again. Even the smallest of incident can be a trigger for them. So Anokhi will have to be very patient and Shaurya needs to try his level best to get over it.

The situation may improve when he realises the truth about his mother. Or not. Because even if she was forced to leave, she made a choice not to take Shaurya with her. (She knew what the Sabarwals were like, I think she should have fought for him.)

Even I find Shaurya’s protectiveness cute. He loves her and that is probably an excuse for their unprofessional attitude 😆

Shaurya was literally beaming with happiness cause she topped! Again , I dont think he has problem with women studying or being successful. He has seen a pattern - of women leaving him when they get successful, that is the thinking that he needs to fight against.

Shaurya doesn’t have a problem with women studying and having jobs. He treats all his students, male and female equally. He just doesn’t want his own future wife to work, and honestly that’s his choice. He cares about Anokhi’s career. But if he understands that a woman can be a good wife and a good mother as well as have a career, it will be a win. If Anokhi gets a job after their marriage and proves him wrong, his thinking will change. I’m sure!

You just gave words to what I was thinking. Even the thread heading, after watching today's episode I was thinking exactly the same, NOT melting.

@bold: Yes it is going to be a lo...ng journey for him to change his whole belief system. Poor thing Nikki has to face a lot of heart breaks during this.

Let’s not forget that Shaurya takes pride in his teaching methodologies and always wanted that validation that he is a good teacher. So I think part of his pride in her is also pride in himself and his teaching style. His rising star former student got 99% even though she spent more time learning outside the classroom than inside due to all the get outs.

Also interesting about Cambridge as a backup in Shaguns case. She still wanted to get married to him but postpone things after Cambridge studies ended. She could have been more transparent with him about her application though. Like if you’re marrying someone, wouldn’t you want to share with them since it’s big life decision? But she probably didn’t bcuz she was worried about losing him in case she didn’t get admitted. Their relationship was pretty fragmented and bound for failure and they didn’t have the trust needed in a relationship. She didn’t trust him with the fact that she was applying to Cambridge and he didn’t trust her to come back from Cambridge ready to be his wife and a homemaker after her PhD

Wonderful post and it does make sense that Shaurya's mentality would have stemmed from the fact that he has seen how a woman leaves him for sake of career. But to be very honest, Shagun was still determined to marry him and be with him and it was matter of 3 years or something?

He probably didn't love Shagun enough to even care pursuing her. After reading about some curse that she gave Shaurya, I went ahead to find that scene. Her words were really powerful! She seemed to be strong woman who wanted to balance both her relationship and career. She told him that may your love never be one-sided like mines but may the woman you love not have a single characteristic to be a perfect Saberwal bahu (🤣 On the contrary, Saberwal family does not have a single quality to Anokhi's in-law family). But oh well. At that moment, I felt for Shagun - And I could just humm the song - "Ismein tera ghata..🤣 mera kuch nai jaata". They made Shagun's exit as powerful woman and it would be terribly sad to see her come back for Shaurya, kills the purpose. If she does come back, may it be to see her curse work magic as Shaurya deals with his insecurities and not negative like OG version.

Now, same might go for Anokhi. She topping the exam, being brilliant, hardworking student is just limited to his own academic institute requirement. But how comfortable would he be with the idea of Anokhi going to say Harvard to pursue her dream career? We don't know. As a man, he could follow along too - nothing wrong. I did write one scenario about it on IF a few days back. I want Anokhi to get similar opportunity to just measure how far has Shaurya come along, if at all. Shaurya was still fine with Shagun working locally in his institute, he might be open to supporting Anokhi there. Or maybe go ahead for further studies, real challenges for a woman is being able to go outside the country as idependently as man in the society. Astha's demands were not even 1% severe. She could have stayed with the family, worked and served her parents, but if they did not even agree to that what are odds for Anokhi to be able to do anything.

True , Shaurya and Shagun had very little trust and with a man like Shaurya, trust will be the most important thing of the relationship. Their relationship was bound to perish.

Anokhi and Shaurya will also have trust issues,mainly because, even is Shaurya tones down, he will never like anyone near his girl.If he senses that a man is attracted to her, he will have a hard time bearing it.

@bold - He teaches the class that Kitty Bebo study in. If he wanted his teaching methodology to be appreciated, he'd be disappointed that they copied. He took Anokhi's answer sheet first , to correct. He wanted to know how she did. It wasn't about his teaching precisely. It was just that she's brilliant. I think your analysis is spot on. He trying to do character assassination of Anokhi stemmed from extreme anger that she is giving another man undue attention which he deserves. Remember, Anokhi sends Ahir a rose & letter thanking him for saving her during the riots in hospital. I think what he did not realise is how low he stooped in anger. I think this came from bad writing. Instead of calling her a loose character he could have used the words — opportunist or use & throw or exploits people by looking innocent. Writers wanted dhaansu words that brought TRPs. It worked na, if such extreme foul language was not user itna discussion hi nahi hota 😉

I agree, he definitely does not have issues with women who study or work. Shagun and he loved each other and she was a professor at SIAC, at least this is what the early episodes expose. So he doesn't mind his wife working also. You are right he might be having abandonment issues because of his mother.
