I always knew the promos were never misleading. They kind of told us what we were getting into since the beginning.

What I like is, this show is here for challenging this mentality and not encourage it. So I am sure the realisation and the apology part would be strong.

And I blv Anokhi will give it back to Shaurya in her own way. I wont mind hearing her lecture him this time and wont even appreciate his continue continue.

Now Let's wait for tomorrow and see what else he speaks.

Its our fault...we've seen nice side of him and we started questioning whether he was really an MCPπŸ˜†

The show came with a terms and conditions, which we signed and forgot about. Now that we're seeing the "defects" we feel betrayed, because the product has been performing well in recent days.

Since the show is about challenging stereotypes, I do hope that the makers focus a lot on the apology and genuine realisation that he was wrong.

This behaviour is not all justified but not even OOC for shaurya.

He has a long way to go.

The way is long and he will be re-schooled and it starts tomorrow.πŸ‘πŸΌ

Which is why I'm not buying that jealousy made him say that. NO, that is his soch, his belief. It would have come out in some other form later. Just that his jealousy triggered him at this point and it all came out!

"Bade logon ki choti soch, ek aam baat hain

Khaas baat to tab hogi, jab ek aam ladki ki badi soch inse takaar legi"

This was the tagline of the show, it's very premise. The episode today and the one tomorrow and countless other episodes in the future will be there to highlight the difference in badi vs chotti soch, the difference in ideologies.

Am I disappointed in Shaurya as a character: No.

Am I disappointed in the makers: No.

Was this character butchering: Not according to me.

Was this done for some drama quotient: No.

Am I angry with Shaurya: Yes, very.

Ikr, the makers sticking to the tagline of the show, what they promised through the first promo shouldn't be surprising though the time we expected it was shocking to most of us I guess πŸ€ͺSometimes shows promise us something else at the beginning, trying to get us engaged but when its midway through, it takes a whole different track & we should be glad SAAKK didn't chose that route 😎 They promised something & they are showing that until the mentality of the guy changes!

Let me explain:

He did not disappoint me as a misogynist character. Trust me, I hate the words he used. But, I am more disappointed in the imaginary portrait that I, and many others, have built of Shaurya. In the past weeks, we've seen sides of him that have made us sympathise and understand him - sides that have made me question the tagline - Is he really a misogynist, I have asked myself this question a lot of times in the past few weeks. And I got my answer today. Yes, he is. And No, he is not going to change so fast, so soon. He was never meant to be Prince charming or a Knight in Shining armor and the episode showed me, he is not. He has a lot to unlearn and re-learn and that will start tomorrow.

Yeah, by showing few sweet, delicate & surprisingly helpful episodes won't immediately change a show's character for viewers. He's been through a lot & his actions especially against his mom are justifiable & we may assume he's changing, believe that he has a good scope of changing thanks to the explanations given by Anokhi or the mirror shown by her but NO! Shaurya will certainly change one day like you've said by learning & re-learning but not so soon! If a character should be presented in the right elements, as a chauvinist or a misogynist it should be done properly & the makers are only doing that. He might not be your ideal guy from a show to have a crush on but he's someone who has so many flaws, flaws he'll accept in order to move on. & omg yes, he's no Prince Charming though he can be a saviour but no, not a typical one at that.

Now, how do I blame the makers for this, how do I call this character butchering just to increase drama when the show came with a warning: that the Male Lead is not your typical bad guy with a soft heart who will manhandle the heroine, instead he is a grey character with a "chotti soch" and he will hurt the heroine with his ideologies and beliefs. No wonder we are so repulsed by what we have seen today, but this isn't this what we were promised in the promos?

Its really not butchering isn't it? Coming to think of it, as agreed Shaurya is a misogynist & he still has that mind set. He doesn't think where he is & whom he is talking to but says what he wants to say. A guy who says things without any filter, he's straightforward. Maybe not with his feelings but with his words. He has sort of ideologies like you say, beliefs in his mind which he believes is true. About the society, about women.

Of course, I get that we've showered lots of love on Shaurya the past days and so, the Shaurya today is a bitter pill to swallow. However, I've always felt that as much as the soft side is a part of him, this ugly side is a part of him as well, and so, his ugly side will be as ugly, as his soft side is beautiful. His misogyny was never going to be restricted to his attitude about woman unable to balance the home and career, it was always going to lurk and show up through his relations with woman.

I actually believe that no matter how innocent a person is, everyone has a grey side to them if not a dark/black one. We are humans, we got through different emotions each day & we might get upset & angry too no matter how much we wanna tolerate something. That's human nature & this is Shaurya's nature. Simple as that. His soft side is sweet, heartwarming & well, interesting to see but on the other hand, his masked side is ugly which we'll have to witness as long as he decides to change.

I don't know if you guys remember, but when Astha was in hospital and Shaurya went to visit, he mentioned something along the lines of, Astha called Shaan and got herself admitted to such a good hospital with luxurious facilities when she couldn't handle it herself. The belief, and ingrained it is, that working women from humble background would not hesitate to leave their family for their career, but when in financial difficulty those women would cling on the same family for support was there, loud and clear. It was a similar situation today but was made more potent with his choice of words. He knows that Anokhi is an achiever and has an intense desire for being educated and following her dreams, however, he also thinks that she is trying to keep a back up in the form of rich man.

Totes, I remember that & felt irked too. But it was him being himself. Luring rich men or making men your financially helpful medium is what he believes. How he's been fed with lies, about women & his mom, that's why Shaurya is a misogynist today. Coming to today's viewpoint he's definitely hurt with the way Anokhi & Ahir are sharing a strangely good bond but his words were sick & what we should understand is that he's capable of crossing those limits time & again.

His jealousy was there, obviously, but it was not the reason why he said the things he did. He spewed the nonsense because he believed in them. His jealousy was only a catalyst for him to reveal his true side.

The motive of this post is not to justify Shaurya, but simply to show that he has always been like that. He has been socialised like that from a very young age, the belief and attitude he holds towards woman has been inculcated in him, by his family, and it's surfacing now. A major part of what we become in later life is due to our socialisation period, where values and norms become a part of our psyche and prompt us to behave in the way we do.

I don't think you're justifying Shaurya if you ask me (can't take guarantee for others πŸ˜†) but just being honest. I mean we should refrain from making preconceived notions about a character like Shaurya πŸ˜„ That's all! His family, the way he's brought up by the women in Sabherwal household when his own mom left him behind, how he always saw the world through their eyes, lessons, preachinf & now that he's actively a part of it, he wants others to believe in what he sees & knows is the best a/c to him.

It's interesting that both of our leads are part of very patriarchal households, but one chose to rebel, while the other chose to accept and perpetuate. The difference though, is in mentality - shaped by society and the immediate environment. And this is what the show is about, I believe. Just like Astha has been the light in Anokhi's life, and has been a part of her socialisation process. The lightstick has been passed. So, now it is Anokhi who will be the light to his ugly side and will be part of his re-socialisation process which will lead to a change in his belief system. Anokhi will not be his rehab centre, but instead would be the mirror that he needed. She will not heal him, she will show him how to heal himself.

That's true now that I read it through your post πŸ˜† Shaurya believes in his family whereas Anokhi rebels against them (Not the women in Bhalla fam except one stupid dadi ) Anokhi is surely there to make a difference in her life as well as Shaurya's life, which badly needs a change & yes! She won't be a rehab centre for him, which we see in every stupid drama (Why do some of us even watch some stupid shows? 🀣) She's here to make him understand what he has been believing is false, his ideologies & mentality can go to hell πŸ˜†

Loved your post.❀️

His upbringing and soch of nearly 30 yrs will not change overnight just because he 'feels' something.

Instead the battle within himself will be to prove that what he's believed till now, Anokhi fits that bill.

It's only as she passes his each emotional war that he throws at her that he'll finally see the real Anokhi.

I think what has perplexed many of us is in the last few days (or weeks unsure of show time span) it seemed quite sudden for him to use that kind of language on a student.

I really doubt he takes Anokhi as student. Anokhi crossed the boundary long back. Now even he dosent consider her as student now.

Loved your post!

I just watched it episode, was trying to skip it because we have seen too man ML's demean the FL and their character. I cannot handle such ML's and shows anymore. However, before I got into this show, I knew the ML is a MCP. So I knew that this was coming, esp since the beginning of the show. I was confused bc mid-way they showed us the good Shaurya ..will so many layers. Which was needed, otherwise, Shaurya would have become a completely negative character. Actually I was waiting for it come bc in the beginning, the hurtful things he said to Shagun and then about Anokhi/Astha to his dad (i.e. they are using him and interested in his money for a maksat) can't go away in a poof...he was always this Shaurya that we saw today. He likes a girl and some other man touching and being friendly with this girl he likes, use bilkul bardast nahi hua so it wasn't just jealousy bc the jealousy was a mask of his choti soch. So am i surprised? Not at all. Atleast, he is the type of a guy who was warned to us and doesn't wear another mask of "im not an MCP and the best man out there."

One thing I would like to point out is how effortlessly this was shown. I don't mean to constantly compare but in other shows, disrespecting the female lead is done so brashly. And it's done over and over again. There was some type of a tehrav to this scene.

Am i siding w Shaurya or the portrayal of him? Nope. He is the prime example of a man who is uber educated but still has the choti soch. Pada likha gawar. That's who he is.

A couple of scenes really gripped me. The way KV has enacted the entire sequence, from Shaurya's jealousy at the police station to the the fidgeting, the back and forth at the library sequence. It was acted so well. ek hota hain words aur aankho se acting karni, that's what KV does.

I like how this show highlighting that men who think that women who have male friends and are friendly w them are 'loose'. That is such a cheap thinking which unfortunately many men still hold - indian and non indian alike. According to them, If a woman talks to a man in a friendly way, she must like him and use "pata" ni ki koshish kar rahi hain to get her way. I don't even know what to say abt such men except unka wohi haal hona chaiye joh anokhi shaurya ka karegi. I'm not surprised at whatever he said...he is an MCP and unfortunately, i have heard this from too many men, friends and family alike (who are otherwise very educated and 'dil ke ache').

Another thing i liked was how Devi told Alok, you have two daughters yourself. This show is diff bc we no longer see the vamps not caring what type of danger the girl would be in ...she dislikes anokhi (only bc of astha) but not enough to want to see another woman suffer physical assault. Galat toh galat hota hain but it makes each character very unique.

KV and Deba are doing a fabulous job w so much back to back shooting. The entire sequence, a bitter pill to swallow, they helped in swallowing - effortlessly. It flowed very well and their acting, I felt like I was there ...watching them. Acting nahi lagti when they enact the scenes. Itna real lagta hain. Like KV's enacting of the scene was uff ...he was gussa but it wasnt shown by yelling but his body language, fidgeting, huffing and puffing. If it weren't for KV, i wouldn't be able to stand Shaurya and watch the upcoming episodes of characterizing the FL.

Also im glad they showed this Shaurya bc seeing him suddenly 'change' was indigestible. Matlab, it's progression and dheere dheere all his layers will peal and mold. Also another amazing thing to see will be that the FL will no longer run after the ML to prove herself.

Am I upset with shaurya ? πŸ€” of course I am

Anything against a woman’s self respect and character gets my already high BP even higher😑

But he is very true to character they have sketched out

We were taken aback by all the build up for romance last week and this week we got a jolt 🀣

It was all boiling under the surface and escalated into huge meltdown πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

So much hatred has been drilled into shaurya by his badimaa it’s bound to influence his thinking and actions a lot especially against independent women πŸ€”

His brain is clouded with his chauvinistic thoughts he can’t think straight , cannot look at things in a better perspective

Right now his Badi maa stands tall in his life

Aastha and Anokhi ( literally )🀣& metaphorically don’t come close to that πŸ˜†

Btw I have some old jhoote to throw at him πŸ˜†

Will that work ? Do not want to waste my new ones 🀣
