I don’t know what this is about but Why are they censoring anything on an online platform? Makes no sense. They do realize people have access to anything on the internet, right? Like p***n and let’s not even talk about the dark net. Stick to your tv channels and theatre screenings. Jeez

who is censoring anything?

Did you even read the article?

The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) filed a complaint against the content shown in the series, which involves underaged kids indulged in sex and drug abuse.

If they had censored it, it wouldn't even have had released.

I didn’t read the article. But underage use of drugs and sex between underage teens does happen. Plus, this show is not shown on a tv channel. So do I even need to read anything.

And I don’t know how laws work when it comes to global streaming. But how is it fair for it to be censored by one country when people living in another country may not have any problem with the content?

Depends on what is shown. Child pron is illegal in most of the world. So is showing active drug use by minors I think. The show can make it clear it is happening but can't show it.

From the article, it looks like the series is actually showing both on screen.

Child p***n should not be shown. I agree. That’s not legal anywhere as far as I know. But sex between underage teens is shown all the time. So I don’t understand the outrage over that. Also, Underage use of drugs is shown even in tv shows. At least I have seen in American teen tv shows of 90s to mid 2000s so I don’t think there has been a change there.

If they actually show the sex, I think it is considered child pron even if the characters are underage. Only suggestion can be given. Underage use of drugs was glamorized acc to article.

See, anything involving minors I have a problem with. I mean, their brains are not fully formed to process all this.

Everything else should only be rated IMO, not censored.

Is that according to Indian law? Because I’m not aware of any such requirements here. Which is why how are they going to enforce it and where does censorship end then on global streaming sites because no two countries have the same exact moral or legal code?

They can block shows in some countries.

I don't know about Indian law. I was talking about child **** laws in general.

Looked it up since we were talking about it. Even cartoons showing underage sex are illegal in several countries. U.S. is called a grey area. Funnily, India soesn't seem to be on the list.

Underage sex or sexualisation of underage person on screen should be no no, in every platform. The law doesn't give them the right to consent, and so shouldn't any entertainment platform in any country.

An adult doing sex scenes is fine, but a child artists who isn't even 16 doing sex scenes on screen to be viewed by adults is basically child abuse.

No amount of freedom of speech or expression is going to change that, and shouldn't be changed.

I watched the six episodes and liked it.

SPOILERS AHEAD.

The first episode has a scene with a teen having sex but nothing more. It isnt justified or anything of that sort.

In the 5th episode, one teen ODs but again, it isnt justified. I dont see anything wrong so far. Are we supposed to pretend that teens don't have sex or do drugs? It isnt glamorized in the show. Infact Pooja Bhatt asks her teen daughter to fk ruining her life over boys and live for only herself. My most favorite scene so far.

Also, this is just online, Gumraah which was way more graphic used to air on TV on star plus. My mom and I used to have conversations based on it which helped me so much during my teens.
