In last season Pratigya's brother played a massive role in the story .

Krishna got married to Pratigya and in exchange Komal(parvati) had to marry Adarsh (Pratigya's brother)

But if I remember right, Adarsh died in the first season. So Ashish could be the new guy opposite Komal.

I am sure they have thought of a pivotal role for him..
