1) Separating two adults who mutually got married to one another.

2) Drugging their daughter, turning her mentally unstable, and locking her in the house for 10 years.

3) Mentally abusing the girl to the point that she is afraid to stay alone in her room.

4) Threatening to harm her and her husband if she ever tries to defy their order.

5) Taking away the girl's infant baby at childbirth and hiding the truth from both the mother and father.

6) Separating and ruining 3 lives in name of "class."

7) Openly admitting to almost all these offenses and still not having a drop of remorse in their eyes.

8) Plotting against reuniting the couple even after all their misdeeds.

9) As per the precap, being violent in front of a mentally ill person and scaring her.

Please add more if I have forgotten any... I was just adding the ones for this track specifically. I was not counting the domestic violence that happens with the bahus in the CN.

Now coming to Dr. Pulkit Despandey and an aspiring medical student, Sai Joshi, who ignored the fact that Devyani is medically unfit and legally ineligible to make decisions for herself. She first needs medical attention to undo the things that have been done to her for a decade. Simply a marriage out of the blue is not the solution. Let's not ignore the fact that she also has an 8-year-old daughter who is unaware of her mother's existence, let alone her state of mind. Is it okay to put Devi through all this mental stress all at once without noting the negative effect it might have on her? However, as it is a tv drama we are all supposed to ignore all these facts and just go with the flow? No logic should be used with such sensitive issues?

You know what's wrong with this whole Indian television show viewing system? The kind of people it is being catered to. The trp collection for these shows for example is based on the kind of middle class people who watches argumentative or dramatic shows past 7 or 8 pm. They want the 'tadka' & 'masala' I suppose. That's why until & unless there's a certain rejection from the main audience, these shows will have these plots remain intact. No matter how regressive they are or how out of logic. Whether its an original or a remake! Directors like Vankar are being requested multiple times on platforms like twitter by the educated fans of this show like all of us to stop with all the illogical nonsense drama they are dragging for at least 4 to 5 days per week & what do these responsible citizens do? Block the ones who makes some noise 🤪 So yes, unfortunately just like how it has been going on, they are literally shoving it on our faces that 'Fans, this is what you will get & deal with it. We don't give a damn about how psychology or medical science works, this is what you get!'

This show should be named "Ghum hai ek ke baad ek plotholes mein." I am just appalled at how lightly the makers are tackling such sensitive issues. This show is normalizing domestic, physical, and mental abuse in the name of "it's just a show." Like no, your show is reaching a mass audience and unconsciously spreading wrong messages to them. You are taking away the filter from the eyes of the audience and normalizing all these situations.

Apt name! This is how tv ki duniya works. If we wish to join the world of television industry, one has to remind you that no matter what, logic cannot be applied. Things such as extra-marital affairs, mental abusing & ofc physical torture are gonna prevail like corona virus 👏 The wrong messages are accepted by general audiences which is downright degrading & shameful. If they come in to their senses and wants to make a change, then only ITV might wake up (WHICH IS NEVER GONNA HAPPEN) Its like these creative producers are telling us to keep our mouths shut & eat what we are serving you silently 😕

I cannot believe that the writer for this show and Anupama are the same. It can not be true. Although I am not saying Anupama is a perfect show; however, at least there is some kind of redemption in the characters. For example, in the last track, when Kinjal's mom heard about Pakhi's disappearance you could see how quickly she changed from being a vicious lady to a concerned woman out of her maternal instinct. Her viciousness is on one side, but when it comes to sympathizing with a mother she was so apt as she herself knows what a mother would feel at that moment. This is what we mean by layers in a character. This is what we mean when we talk about being a grey character.

About Rakhi dave? That's one kind of a character & yes, her motherly instincts surprised me as well because thats how you actually behave when a calamity as such breaks through? But no! Why would we want that in our show? Layered characters? What's that in ghum? Sorry, we are as dumb as we can get. That's how stupidity continues..

Meanwhile, in this show, we get constant negativity with no buildup or progress in the characters. The evil is downright evil and is only going further down that path from where there is no scope of redemption.

Even if redemption is happening later (ofc this is a copy) what's super wrong in this situation is how being mature (Not 'Patralekha kind of mature', PLEASE) & elderly, the freaking dipsh** elders in this mahaan house except Ashwini aai are such pieces who belongs to the gutter! How disgraceful it is to have these kind of people with third grade thoughts & notions that they've wholeheartedly, as a family have accepted & continues to do so? Um... Grow a brain maybe?

Well, I had more things to rant about but I will just leave it at that because this show is just going downhill for me. The makers, the directors, and some actors on the show are just taking all the fame for granted. Enjoy the limelight while it lasts, I guess because it won't be on you for much longer.

This show is so problematic but I read somewhere either in this forum or twitter that these kinda dramatic shows are loved by bengali people where ghar ki bahu takes a stand against everyone or something weird? Idk whether there's any truth to this fact but if it is so, then I've nothing to say! What the makers are delivering for the sake of trp without even considering sensible feedback is humiliating them only & is such that I also skip many episodes when it gets highly intolerable & guess that's what we all can do right? For granted, ofc! I sometimes feel bad for few members in the cast but all in all this is a drama & they are giving us 2× the drama than mostly many other shows so yeah, nothing could be done 🤔

One more thing I wanna note is that there is a difference in fame and infamy and this show is starting to get the latter.

Feel the same way. In fact Pulkit should have filed an FIR with Virat, instead of entering his house dramatically asking for Devyani. Then proper police investigations should have happened - especially considering Devyani had a child as well, who was separated from her - which Pulkit knows about.

Also feel bad for Sai, who is shown as a young girl who has just started college. I work with an NGO which has girls her age, and I know what kind of mental issues they are grappling with - they are trying to figure out who they are and what they want to do in life. I know Sai is quite sorted and very 'samajhdaar' (despite what the so-called 'mature' people think), but to have to put up with this abusive atmosphere - she actually really is better off leaving. And to show Patralekha put up with this, encourage it, and participate in this negativity - as a 'modern, educated woman' - it's just disgusting, no matter what her delusions.

Finding the whole drama completely mentally draining and oppressive to be honest. I have watched ITV shows for over 20 years now with all kinds of abusive and crazy characters, but somehow the whole atmosphere of that Chavan Niwas seems to be a different level of craziness and abuse. I watch on Hotstar and end up forwarding the bits I don't want to see, but seriously thinking of stopping watching if it continues like this. Even if SaiRat get back together, they will come to this same house, with the same people - because no one in ITV gets their comeuppance after all.

Maybe it really is my fault that I feel this way, because it was my high expectations from this one (based on how Sai's character was portrayed) that have not been fulfilled - I don't actually feel so strongly about other bad shows. But now Sai is becoming like other ITV bahus, Virat is being shown without much reaction to things around him (sadly!) despite being a police officer at a senior level, and Patralekha is becoming a full-on vamp. Very disappointing.

Agar logic ki baat karo ke to sirf virat hi police mein nhi hain usse pehle bhi police officer honge jo devkit ki help kar sakte the , humara police force itna bhi corrupt nhi hai

Vaise pehli baar kuch logical bola omkar ne ki 10 saal tak pulkit so raha tha kya , how d hell he agreed that devi married other person when she was married to him, why pulkit dint contacted police force that time & complained against Cgang that they trying to seperate him from his wife & trying to get her married to someone else when she is already married to him . I doubt police would had not looked into d matter coz of nagesh chavan honour . It's really big mystery what made pulkit keep waiting for 10 yrs.

Doctors ke baare mein muh na kholu jyada accha hain .

Is serial mein IPS officer , doctors , army men kalpanik characters hain . Isiliye vo disclaimer bhi run karte hain . Makers r badly following d original . If during KD people would had objected to aaj kuch aur hi dekh rahe hote.

Aap Anupama ki baat kar rahe to aapko bata du there characters have role to play ,Anupama is not glorified there bina vajah, yaha sai ko superwoman dekhane ke tayyari hain to virat ko kuch nhi karne denge coz sai hai to sahi hain. IPS officer ka role dekhana hota to ye devkit ki mystery IPS officer solve karta sai joshi nhi.

IPS officers ya police force ki families ko law ke baare mein bahut acche se pata hota hain

I don't know why but ITV follow a weird trend that jabtak FL ko torture karne wala sasural na mile, show ko trp nhi milti & sadly such shows r enjoyed by women flock most .

I am slowly trying to stop watching the show. And I am reading many post by others who are planning to quit as well.

We don’t have censorship or rating in ITV which is followed strictly. We have people who will do morchas for portraying Rama’s and Krishnas wrongly. But when it comes to women being abused in the name of patriarchy, morcha guys do zilch.

It’s really appalling how the TRP janta enjoys the physical and emotional abuse high drama. It just reflects on the society we all live in.

At the end of the day ph is going to say it’s just a show and for them bottom line is making money.

Neither the channel nor the PH is going to take responsibility for showing a series like this on prime time. We audience have to choose wisely.

After watching every episode from last week I just keep wishing Virat character was not an IPS officer and the family members were not from armed forces. 😢😢😢

@bold- So true. It's the heartbreaking state of our country today.

Agree 100% with everything you said. Unfortunately itv is making hardly any progress. Too much ott drama and no logic. But this plot of showing elders getting away with crimes in the name of conservative behavior and not researching mental illness before potraying it in a show is unacceptable.

To be fair, devi is better off living with pulkit. pulkit is her legal guardian if they're already married. Husband trumps mother. And even psych patients can be assessed for "capacity". In devi's case she does have capacity. Shs can clearly state her wishes even though she acts childish and maybe has occasional "hallucinations" its clear that she WANTS to live with pulkit. And as a doctor he will ensure she gets the right treatment. Anyway in this house despite having ashwini/virat/mohit/shivani/mansi devi has been ill treated so she should leave.

Devi does not have a real psych diagnosis on this show. Its all made up. Juvenile and lazy writing. They think "psychiatric illness" means they will show the character behave like a kid n thats it. Thats ridiculous.

Another fact which saddens me is ITV portrays ‘psychiatric illness’ as being ‘mad’

But that is definitely not the actual case.

It is much more deep and serious.

But they try to blow it off lightly.

I know people personally who are consulting a psychiatrist but don’t want to acknowledge in front of others because they think people will downright put the ‘mad’ label on them.
