Some of us, including me, may not be great admirers of Swapnil Joshi, but the fact remains, as Mishkil88, pointed out he is one of the two saleable actors in Marathi film Industry.
I don't really know what he said on CHYD but Joshi himself has a very long acting career, he has been acting since he was 9 and today he is 43, so about 34 years so he must know about things he was talking about.
As far his 'younger' fans are concerned, I think he and Ankush Chaudhary gained a large amount of young following because of Duniyadari. IMO, Duniyadari was an epic young film. If somebody like me who has left his college life far behind was quite impressed with it then it's effect on younger crowd must be understandable. After watching Subah in mid 80's as a kid I became a life long admirer of Salim Ghouse's acting, Duniyadari must have had a similar kind of impact on younger crowd at that time.
His older fans love him for Uttar Ramayan . He has also been part of quite a few Hindi TV serials and shows. So he has quite a diverse fan following.
He did use to ape SRK but he looked better than most while doing it. In an interview with ABP Majha he asked the reporter not to ask him to ape ARK because he was tired of it and wanted to get out of it.
Actors like Lalit Prabhakar and Gashmir Mahajani also need some kind of all time classic movie to become as saleable as Joshi and Chaudhary.
