No Deepika lacks the acting abilities required to play these characters plus her pathetic dialogue delivery.

She was decent in piku and that s most she can do. She can't live sehmat the way alia did. And latter transform into safeena the way alia did.

Her skills have diminished with each film since 2015.

Deepika has scorching screen presence. She not only looks the part of every character she plays, she's not a misfit in any kind of genre. She has the aura of an actress which is a part and parcel of the Bollywood setup. Coming to raw acting skills, I would still put Deepika ahead of Alia. I can see Deepika carrying off all Alia roles but I could never see Alia doing Meenamma, Leela, Veronica, Piku, Tara or Mastani. All these roles are different from each other and Deepika did full justice to each character.

Coming to Alia, she was REALLY good in Udta Punjab and I liked her in Gangubai trailer, but if you look at all her roles, they are performance-centric and served to her on a silver platter. It's another matter that she hasn't done justice to each character she played. There's a thick, unruly, unhinged quality to her acting which regurgitates across films. There's a pattern to her acting. She's mediocre at best, except when playing feisty characters which may I add are easier to play than most characters. Just play a badass, sassy character and you will see people will love your average acting.

Some people are just weird in this thread mocking people opinions and quoting them to laugh even if it has nothing to do with them. How is this acceptable on a forum?. There’s a topic maybe give your opinions, debate and let others live. That’s exactly why this forum is the way it is right now. Because few people thinking they own this place and they can force you to adhere to their opinions. It’s really not what it used to be. Just a small rant.

I never understood the deal with Alia and Udta Punjab ... that was the propaganda machine at work through and through. Kareena was a much better actress in that movie and I don't even like her that much so that's saying a lot. Applying some soot to your face, looking drugged out when they inject stuff in you and screaming like a banshee every now and then doesn't take "out of the world" "acting" abilities. Deepika's Tangabali in Chennai Express blows her entire Udta Punjab act out of the water as far as I'm concerned.😆 I can easily see anyone in Alia's place pulling off the role, and some would even do much more justice to it than she did. Don't even get me started on that two minute Gangubai teaser that the entire bollywood ecosystem has already showered with a bunch of oscars.

Who is more aesthetically pleasing to the eyes? I think a swing vote will put this matter to rest.
