Lagaan or Swades: Which is more classic film?

Both are great but in my opinion Swades is better than Lagaan.

Like Lagaan Swades also should have got Oscar nomination. It got 8.2 rating in IMDB.

0.1 higher rating than Lagaan.

swades was and is the better movie. unfortunately many people aren't aware of this fact as they haven't seen swades.

Swades was better film, & SRK was outstanding

I might be in the minority but I don’t like Lagaan. I didn’t watch it when it released but a few years later. I only wanted to watch Lagaan because of the songs. I thought the movie was a real drag.

Swades also is a long movie but I enjoyed it more. I like the growth of Mohan in the movie.

Lagaan is a classic and I love that movie.

Swades is also good, but Lagaan has more repeat value.

If "ye tara" makes me smile then "ye jo des" makes me cry buckets. I have seen terrible situations in my village. didn't had electricity for several months sometimes a year. God knows how we prepared for exams. I could really connect with this movie.

Lagaan- a lovely concept but typical romance and Amir was OTT. I personally didn't enjoy the movie.

Lagaan was more commercial and had more of those dhamakedaar moments which are important for a film to do well. It was a masala film.

Swades was made with a lot of heart. There's depth and there's a lot of retrospection that both the audience as well as the characters in the film go through. It stays with you for a long time and that's the signature of a classic film.

Lagaan. I think many people would opt for Swades now because Lagaan with all its song and dance numbers might come across as rather filmy, or worse, dated. I personally loved Lagaan precisely because of its filminess. The entire film seems like a stage opera or play with all the characters singing and dancing in coordination. The emotions of the film also hit hard: the plight of the poor villagers, Bhuvan's unwavering determination, innocence and courage in the face of adversity, Elizabeth's one-sided love for Bhuvan.

Some scenes are really epic and I love the "Ghanana Ghanana Ghana" before the burst of rain during the climax.

The older I grow the more I end up disliking Swades 😡😆... Don't get me wrong the film is fine, but it seems like propaganda for expatriates to come back to their own country🤓...
