I didn't want to make a post venting my frustration w this show but I have stopped watching for the past couple of weeks. I keep up w the updates bc I used to love it and saw SO much potential. However, showing the abuse and glorifying it is not okay. There's literally an entire army of people against a single 18 year old girl and she is fighting them. Are we supposed to gain encouragement of fighting negative toxic people? Because no matter how strong a person is, no one can take 24/7 abuse - even the strongest of people. Actually no one SHOULD take abuse. period. There are so many things wrong w the show and I'm surprised the makers have completely butchered some characters, to name a few of those that really really piss me off and make me anxious (I literally felt anxious before watching so I had to stop).
1. Devar-Bhabhi EMA (in no household is this normal and Virat isn't a kid who doesn't understand the intentions of people)
2. Cheating (There are many forms of cheating and EMA is a form of cheating. When Virat had his intentions clear before, why is he suddenly forcing himself on her without communicating and clarifying? His sudden hath pakadna and she wanting to go, usne zabardasti ki Sai ke sath. There are also various forms of zabardasti and this was one of them)
3. Masala peesing w the pain Sai faced
4. Not giving her food
5. Making her work and wanting her to work, then and only she will get food. With the money of her father, she can easily get food and have a sane simple life in hostel and focus on her studies. Virats " you need people and family" is BS bc no one needs this kind of people or family around. Or agar, aisi family hain toh akela rehna accha. Also the way he is making it sound is that she will never find someone for the rest of her life. She can easily find someone and settle down later on also
6. Constant tannas and stopping her into doing her own things
7. Oh the list continues ...
It's sad that that they have to show this kind of stuff to get high trps. Or that people still watch despite the abuse shown (and nothing done about it). which one is worse? Is it the makers fault for wanting to be successful and in order to do so, they know showing this type of stuff WILL make it successful (as known from previous shows) or is it the society that ACCEPTS this type of content to be on mainstream television and watch despite the regressiveness and wrongfulness of it? Honestly, if the society rejects it, they will not show it. And the fact that it's not rejected and still shown, somewhere the society is divided where these things do exists and people relate to it which is why it's being watched.
I know a first hand story of a lady who woke up at 5am every morning to cook breakfast and lunch for family, get her son ready for school, clean, then go to work an hour away, work 11-12 hours, come home and cook dinner, feed her family, help her son do his homework, then at night start working again. All this while her family would taunt her be mean towards her despite doing ALL THIS!
Sai's story is a reality for so many women, it's sad.
