Palace of Illusions is a well-written novel romantically pairing a sexual assault victim with her assaulter. Author then promoted it as a feministic take on Panchali.

I want to ask Chitra Divakaruni and all those who want that sex assaulter with Panchali... please look every acid attack victim in the eye and tell her it is romantic and liberating (for the woman) when a man organizes a sexual assault on a woman for her rejection of him as a suitor.

OTOH, considering DP's selective feminism, it might be the perfect take on Mahabharata for her to adapt. I hope with every brain cell in me it goes down to be the biggest disaster of Indian cinema.

Minty thank you for sharing. Great achievement. I like your enthusiasm about Deepika. Unfortunately haters are always the first to hijack a topic about someone who is supposedly irrelevant to them. In this way they want truly ruin it for fans like you (this forum is dying because of the constant bias). They always do that for any news so better not get affected by that.

DP continues to be busy as well as one of the biggest star in Bollywood. Just post your news and enjoy. It doesn’t matter 😳

Why are you always acting like anyone forced you to watch Deepika? You always come in her topic to complain about the movies she is doing or her achievements or any news for that matter. It’s simple, Just don’t watch 👍🏼

I do enjoy watching DP's movies. Not a hater, either.

Problem is this is Panchali we're talking about, a woman who used to be the empress of Aryavarta, its finance minister, and citizen liaison. A woman so powerful Vyasa called her both Saraswati and Shree.

Palace of Illusions reduces her to a hormonal teenager. The book justifies the attack by a man rejected on a woman - a sexual assault, to boot! The book pairs a sexual assault victim with her assaulter.

Considering the fact DP went to JNU to offer support for a progerssive cause, why not exercise some responsibiltiy in her choice of what to portray? If she doesn't, then the audience, esp that part of the audience which has some familiarity with actual Mahabharat, will call her out. And yeah, it is selective feminism to do this atrocity to an actually powerful female character and then claim support for women's rights.

Re: DP the actress. There hasn't been one powerful role from DP which makes me believe she could portray Panchali as Vyasa wrote her.

without a director though which is good thing as that means the movie will not be made or else the shipping of sexual assaulter and victim would have been on a whole new level
