I think you've got it. Perhaps cheesy is the word. The song vibed differently. DI suits VaNi way more. But Tere Sang grew on me after the scene where Veer gives Bani the option to go. Then when they added in the Male Versions, I became really attached. Now it gives me the feels too.

Still feel the Dil Ibaadat should have been used for the confession scene.

This scene had angsty feels . Also what happened after . This was also the scene where Tere Sang started growing on me! The lyrics were so relatable.

Because DI has that intensity,angst and emotion that perfectly matches vani!! Tere sang is very mellow and slow and kinda fit for a different type of love story.

Vani tbh acc to their characters had/were supposed to have a very DARK love story!! And DI had that vibe!!
