Agreed re: DDLJ, future husband jaisa bhi ho, baap ne chuna hai toh bas, sahi hai and what always grates me is Simran's dad being so anti- his daughters being Western. Dude, if you hate the West so much why'd you move there and raise your daughters there? Live in the West but remain 100% desi at all times. Can't even listen to Western music with your dad at home. Such a backward concept.

TBH I find a lot (most) of KJos films (not that DDLJ was one) to be particularly regressive or problematic in some way or other, despite their uber classy exterior...
