Exactly! There is a tone of formal distant cordiality in her restraint behavior and attitude . And he gauged that too. He's actually very sensitive to how Imlie behaves with and around him. Ek dum chup sa ho gaya. As if he was in another world , a trance and now he's fallen head first into hard reality and remembers where they stand with each other in front of the world. He can't show her the kind of intimate care even in the privacy of the cabin that he was doing in front of the ambulance stuff. Something snapped.

Also the way she lost no time reminding him that he left her behind in Pagdandiya for good and it's just coincidence she's back to Delhi , basically reminding him she hasn't forgotten one single thing and his part in it and nothing has changed between them after their brief moment of intimacy and soul sharing.
