Lata's voice was terrible in DTPH and didn't suit either of the heroines. I don't know one character in KKHH who didn't irritate me. Karan and his love for Archies and Riverdale. Rani's matchmaking from the death bed looked terribly odd. But I didn't find the same trope objectionable in Kalank when Sonakshi did it. Probably because she didn't manipulate a child to matchmake for Daddy. Or maybe it was because Sonakshi was shown regretting this decision, feeling jealousy and breaking down in private in front of her husband. Her character had layers.

True that. Both the movies are trash objectively speaking.

Generally I have a high tolerance for trashy masala. But somehow in the 90s I couldn't tolerate these two or YRF's films like Veer zaara or Mohabbatein. The melodrama was unbearable. But all these movies had lovely music.

Mohabbatein doesn’t even pretend but Veer Zaara tries so much to be a classic that it's quite obvious.😆

I used to like both the films but I guess I relished watching Shahrukh suffer in Dil toh pagal hai because Madhuri was engaged. I was mighty pissed with his character in Kuch Kuch hota hai because he was so blind that he couldn't see that Anjali loved him.

Although today, both films are kinda meh for me. I don't really like any of the characters now.

None of them to be honest. Both are nothing great but if I had to choose, I'd say kuch kuch hota hai. I liked Aman and his scenes with his would be mother in law. They were sweet.

Also, I really like the concept of a widower finding love again though Karan Johar's execution sucks. He did it in such a crappy manner.

I would love to see a remake which would deal with the circumstances of Rahul's life post Tina's death a lot better.

Unfortunately, it became all about the lil Anjali becoming cupid with silliness plaguing what could have otherwise been such a genuine heartfelt tale of regaining one's friendship and lost love.

Rather, it became all about Rahul pining and whining like a little kid after his favourite candy. I would have handled the reunion better but the film is nice in just what it is. Just that, I would want things changed around in a remake.

My thoughts didn't come across too well cos I got lots of disturbance around me... Anyways.

Also, in real life you have to work hard to make a relationship work. It's not hunky dory like in Dil Toh Pagal Hai.

As problematic as some aspects of KKHH are, I think its the better movie.

DTPH was a hot mess. It had an impossible to follow and convoluted narrative format. Barring Karishma Kapoor everything about the movie was dull. The only reason it became a hit was its great soundtrack and the fan following of its stars.

They were both rubbish but KKHH was more entertaining. Most of the 90's and early 2000's movies would tank today cuz of the ridiculous notions on love they all purported.
