You have to realize, majority of INDIA is STILL very conservative, even in 2020.
Besides, good family entertainers have always been liked by the masses, and through re-runs on television & CD/DVD, they develop a cult following with children/family audience.
Ask yourself? In 2006, what would you have preferred to watch alongside your family/kids/parents/grandparents?
Would you've watched a Murder or a Aashiq Banay Aapne with them?😆
True but the tonality of the movie was so banal. I understand if it would have worked with a TV audience which is frequented by the conservatives. The movie going audience consists mainly of youth, and they love a different sort of movie, the tide tilts towards contemporary themes concerning the urban Indian, while paarivaarik issues are consigned to television soaps.
