I have rewatched the last scene and if you carefully observe Bhavani was looking at Virat when he was telling her how the criminals are handled showing the stick. Her smirking face at that time certainly conveyed a different impression to Sai's mind. Not just Bhavani but Sonali and Karishma too gave the same sort of annoying smile. So Sai must have felt offended even though Virat's sense and intention in saying that was not wrong.

Agreed. Also Virat made the statement of beating criminals to his Kaku as stand-alone statement to prove to her his own capabilities as a police officer. But Sai took Virat's statement in the context of the whole situation where the family was trying to get her to spill the truth. It seemed like a misinterpretation of the context in which Virat said what he said.

Yes, Virat remained calm and cool and tried to handle the matter in peaceful manner. But the family's reaction made things worse.
