That was just 💔 But I didn't fully understand it. Was it because he was confusing her with his blow hot blow cold behaviour?

Its open for interpretation really...might be the reason you mentioned, might be because she is getting attached to him and this friendzoning hurt her, might be because she fears if she'll befriend him she'll eventually fall for him, might be because he even associately the word friendship with farz. His friendship with others were made from the heart, with her; its only farz.

I felt like she got her hopes a bit up when Virat sided with her against Pakhi. She thought maybe Virat likes her better than Pakhi after what happened that day.

When he said friend, she realized it means nothing, same as how best friend with Pakhi means nothing, its just namesake relation coming from Virat.

After his handholding and rukh jao, she again has some hopes and she trusted him that he thinks she is right.

But after the episode today, looks like she is in for disappointment. He is going to break her trust/ heart/hopes again by saying she should apologize to Paakhi.

I want Sai to be super cold to him and when she makes friends in college, she should just completely ignore him. When she gets a guy best friend and Virat feels uncomfortable, she should say "Aap itne mature nahin hain ki is dosti ko samajh sakein."

I don't think he will directly say she should go and apologize. But he might hint at it by saying something like....you do what you feel is right or apologizing makes you a bigger person, but then you decide cos you are intelligent.... Or words to that effect. But he will definitely sulk. So cos of this she might go and apologize to pakhi.
