Chapter 9

Ridhima wakes up at the middle of the night and sees herself dressed up in nightdress. She quickly wants to get up and run away while she meets Sher who is waiting for her. She tries to go to slap him but he catches her and holds her hand.

"I'm already impressed with you, Ridhima. However, didn't I told you, channelize your anger in the right direction"

says Sher

"You are a monster"

shouts Ridhima

"So do you,"

says Sher

Ridhima looks at him with accusation eyes, while Sher smirks,

"Don't see me with those eyes Ridhima, I saw whatever happened in the torture room. We all had seen your mind. You are superb Killer I must say"

says Sher

"No, that is not me. You guys are playing with my mind. Stop doing it"

says Ridhima while throwing a vase at Sher which eventually breaks down into pieces.

Ridhima sees him with pleading eyes,

"Please, Sher. Let me go from here. I don't belong to this world. I cannot kill people. This is not me"

says Ridhima

Sher softens and catches hold of her and give her some water to drink. He takes a moment,

"that man has raped a 15 years girl. He runs the brothel house of the Mafia, however, King never forces the sex slave kids to be part of this house. It depends on that individual. But this man is abusing those girls including boys too. Now, you tell me, does he deserves to live?"

asks Sher looking straight into Ridhima face which shrunk with shock.

Ridhima frames herself by taking a breath,

"A license to kill also means a license Not to kill. You don't just kill a guy like that.”

shouts Ridhima

Sher tightens in his grip on Ridhima,

"Imagine Ridhima. Can you see her? Her raped, beaten, broken body soaked in their urine, soaked in their semen, soaked in her blood, left to die. Can you see her? I want you to picture that little girl"

says Sher

Ridhima comes out of his grip,

"He might deserve death, but I cannot do it, Sher. Why didn't you just... kill me?

asks Ridhima

Sher smirks,

"You don't fear death... You welcome it. Your punishment must be more severe if you want to leave Mafia."

Ridhima: Torture?

"Yes. But not of your body... Of your soul."

replies Sher with dark eyes.

Ridhima falls on her knees,

"Why me, Sher?"

Sher understands he cannot go with his dark act, so he sits beside her,

"I know, whatever I say, would make me feel worse in your eyes. I'm not here to justify that murder. But, I'm here to say that accept yourself Ridhima. You're badass. You want to hurt the person who has hurt you. It's natural too. We aren't saints and Gandhi's to say slap on my cheek. It's okay if you want to inflict pain to someone. However, here, we are not saying to kill an innocent. We are saying to kill a person who has hurt innocents, in one way, you're purifying the world.

Ridhima, we are in Mafia. Here emotions don't work. Logic doesn't work. What works is Guns! Police kill bad people so do we but sometimes innocents do lose their lives in the battle. We cannot help it. We live with it."

says Sher

"How? How can you live with the pain of killing an innocent?"

asks Ridhima

"By thinking, we have saved thousands of innocents being killed"

replies Sher

"Who is this King?"

asks Ridhima

Sher sighs,

"There was something wild beneath the surface that his suit couldn't hide. He had the cocky arrogance of a man who broke the rules with impunity. A man who feared nothing. A very, very dangerous man.”

replies Sher

"Yet, you work for him?"

asks Ridhima

"Yes, because he is a saviour for the people who trust him"

replies Sher

"Despite knowing the journey... and where it leads... I embrace it... and I welcome every moment of it.”

says Sher leaning towards the glass window.

"Sher: You must take the next step on your journey, from doctor to warrior.

- Ridhima: But I'm no good at it!

- Sher: You're terrible at it!”

Both look into each other eyes and laughs. Sher gets lost in her smile and says,

"Ridhima, try to smile more from now onwards."

which makes her stop smiling

"Yes, I have no tears to shed, so all I can do is laugh"

replies Ridhima with sad smile surfacing on her lips. Seeing Sher dropped eyes,

"My face is killing me. I never had to smile so much in my life.”

which brings a smile on his face again.

"So what's next?"

asks Ridhima

"Ah,"

says Sher

"You said I cannot leave from here. Okay. However, I cannot randomly kill anyone like that. And that torture room, I never want to be part of it again"

says Ridhima

"Accept yourself Ridhima"

replies Sher

"Ah,"

says Ridhima

"I'm not telling you to kill your core. I'm saying kill the bad by being bad. Over and above, did people cared for you when you sacrificed things for them? I'm asking you to be good for a good while being bad for bad."

says Sher while locking her eyes with her

"It is not easy for me"

replies Ridhima

"I'm not asking you to change in a day,"

says Sher

"Oh really? What happened today, isn't something so early for me?"

asks Ridhima

"So you are ready to kill if I tell you after a month?"

replies Sher

'I, woh" I...

Sher cuts in the middle,

"No one is ever ready to kill a person. It happens. But if you are planning to kill a person then you need to start from now itself. Ridhima, in this world, no is going to judge you other than you. I would repeat it and say again, accept yourself. Fight with yourself and overcome the fears you have, then trust me, you don't need me to sit beside you and give classes"

says Sher while caressing her head.

"How do I accept myself?'

asks Ridhima

"Well there are many ways which I don't know, but what I know is, get into your head and deal with it"

replies Sher

"Are you saying direct connect with the Ridhima in my mind?"

asks Ridhima

"Ridhima in your mind is also you only. But yes, you need to embrace her"

replies Sher

"It's not easy for me to face her again,"

says Ridhima

Sher turns towards Ridhima while holding her with his two hands,

"If you want to die, you better die fighting, not running"

replies Sher

"I can never become like you guys,"

says Ridhima

Sher: Ridhima, look at me, you are a blowfish.

Ridhima: What?

Sher: A blowfish, think about it. Small in stature, not swift, not cunning, easy prey for predators. But the blowfish has a secret weapon, doesn't he? Doesn't he? What does the blowfish do, Ridhima? What does the blowfish do?

Ridhima: I don't even know what...

Sher: The blowfish puffs up, okay? The blowfish puffs himself up four, five times larger than normal, but why? Why does he do that? Because it makes him intimidating, that's why. Intimidating so that the other scarier fish are scared off and that's you. You are a blowfish. Don't you see? It's just all–all an illusion. It's nothing but air. Now, who messes with the blow-fish, Ridhima?

Ridhima: Nobody.

Sher: You're damn right.

says with a smirk on his face making Ridhima beaming with confidence.

"So, tomorrow morning, we are going to enter your mind again and will try to embrace yourself. Then, we can start training. Because, until unless you don't, I don't think you can do the training which Aliza has designed for you."

says Sher

Ridhima looks at him different emotions while Sher asks

"What?"

"You were very different down then. I got scared the way you handled me"

replies Ridhima

"That's the real me Ridhima. I'm not saying this is my facade, but yes, that is also me. When we saw the real you who is your in mind, we were also scared. People do get intimidated when they see the true self of others"

replies Sher

"Now, get some rest and please lock the doors, Ridhima"

saying Sher exists from her room while leaving Ridhima in the thoughts of King.

Next Morning:-

Ridhima is all set to enter into her mind once again to embrace herself. Yet, she is scared. She knows now whatever happens in her mind is all part of her past choices and the people who have hurt her. However, to what extent she can make sure to embrace herself by not hurting anyone?

She has no idea, she is waiting outside the torture room for Sher come and open the door so she can see whether she can be part of it or not.

Sher comes at the deck of the cruise and sees Ridhima all set to enter the room. Howbeit, he noticed the stress on her forehead. He knows what is going in her mind but he knows today, she will embrace herself and come out of the room herself.

"So, all prepared to face yourself?"

asks Ridhima waking her up from her thoughts

"I don't know. Let's see"

replies Ridhima with a sigh

“Every person has the power to change their fate if they are brave enough to fight for what they desire more than anything,”

says Sher and opens the door.

"I'm here for you Ridhima, I will be waiting for your comeback, Go in and achieve yourself,"

says Sher while boosting her up.

Ridhima enters into the room and remembers what happened last evening. She tries to keep herself but she hyperventilates trying to come of the room, Sher stops her,

"You're trying to escape from your difficulties, and there never is any escape from difficulties, never. They have to be faced and fought.”

says Sher

"I cannot forget what happened yesterday, Sher"

Ridhima trembles while he holds her

"Ridhima, look at me, look at me Ridhima, you're searching for another person in your mind. If you want to stay in Mafia or anywhere in the world, be tough... be tough! Live life. But don't do it because you're looking for someone. Do it because you're looking for yourself”

boosts Sher while indicating her open the door herself and get in

Ridhima with heavy steps gets inside while Sher immediately locks the door leaving Ridhima alone in the room while gas consumes her and making her wake up in her mind.

Ridhima's Mind: -

Ridhima wakes up and sees herself standing before Vansh Rai Singhania. Ridhima is shocked to see Vansh here. She looks at him while Vansh looks at her,

"Looks like, you have a developed a sickness"

says Vansh

"What sickness,"

asks Ridhima

"It's called self-pity. Complicated by having no backbone"

replies Vansh making Ridhima heart twitched.

"It's okay. You always hurt the ones you love"

says Ridhima

"You mean the ones you pity"

replies Vansh with a smirk on his face.

“If there's anything I hate worse than pity, it's fake pity,"

says Ridhima.

"I'm glad you know that I'm faking,"

says Vansh with an eerie smile on his face

'Why are you here Vansh?"

asks Ridhima

"I'm not here Ridhima. It is who you summoned me in your mind. You see even after throwing you of my house, still, you call me every time. What I should do with you? In what words I should tell you that I don't need such a cheater in my life"

says Vansh fuming in anger while pushing her to the wall hard.

“You’re pushing me away again. Just when you are going to need me the most"

replies Ridhima

"Don't flatten yourself Ridhima, it is you who needs me. You need me because you are left all alone. I abandoned you Ridhima"

says Vansh louder enough to hit her ever nerve in her head making her unconscious again.

Ridhima wakes up another place to see hallucination Ridhima covered in blood with a smile on her face.

"Welcome back Ridhima,"

says Hallucination Ridhima

Ridhima takes heavy steps towards her and sits beside her,

"Why are you killing every person who has hurt us?"

asks Ridhima

"They had hurt us badly Ridhima, do you want me to keep them alive?"

asks Hallunciation Ridhima

"I understand they gave pain, but today whatever we are is because of that pain. If you want blood, let's hurt the people who deserve not the ones who misunderstood us"

says Ridhima

"Then can I kill Kabir?"

asks hallucination Ridhima

"Why you want to kill him?"

asks Ridhima

"He is the reason we lose our true love. He is the reason Vansh is not with us?"

says Hallucination Ridhima

Ridhima hugs hallucination self and says,

"Yes, we can kill him but before him, I want to do something."

"What is it?"

asks Hallucination Ridhima

"To kill me,"

says Ridhima

"What do you mean?"

asks Hallucination Ridhima with shock her face gripping knife in her hands with much more power.

“My nature has always been to fight. My faith forces me to forgive"

says Ridhima who is ready to pounce on her Hallucination self.

“Some people need to be taught some manners,"

Hallucination said disdainfully while Ridhima stared up her.

"Today it ends. I can't live in fear any longer. I've cursed this self of mine. And I've hidden it away. Now I must try to wield it correctly, to marry it to a purpose and hope that is enough"

says Ridhima while keeping herself in defence position.

"You don't know how to fight a battle yet, Ridhima. You're here because Vansh said he abandoned you. You fear abandonce, dear. You fear being all alone. Am I right or Am I right?"

says Hallucination Ridhima with a wicked smile on her face making Ridhima flinch.

"Don't run anymore?"

says Ridhima

"What?"

says Hallunciation Ridhima

"I know, I might not know everything but I saw some bits and pieces of our past where we are running,"

says Ridhima flinching Hallucination Ridhima

"What the hell you are saying"

shouts Hallcunation Ridhima

"We ran because we had no other choice. We feared what would happen if we dared to stop. There was no time to think. There was barely any time for us to breathe. With a broken ankle, bruised arms, bleeding sides, we ran because we knew that day was the day we were meant to die"

says Ridhima while tears falling from her eyes and Hallucination Ridhima looks at with horror-stricken face asking Ridhima,

"Do you remember?"

"No. Not everything. Expect that we are running. Since childhood, I got these nightmares but later I didn't. But yesterday I saw it for a second while I'm here with you. So it is real, right? From whom we are running and why we felt as it is our last day. Tell me?"

shouts Ridhima

"So, you are not here to embrace me. You're here to know the past. Hahahahaha, very bad Ridhima. You shouldn't be revealing your cards like this. This is the problem with you. Always thinking with the heart leaving mind at the door. You know what, I will tell you but fight with me first. If you win, I will give you a hint"

says Hallucination Ridhima

"If that's you want,"

says Ridhima and tries to hit Hallucination Ridhima but Hallucination Ridhima takes her position and punches Ridhima which makes her fall.

"Poor Ridhima fell with one punch. You aren't trained good enough to fight with me, you little girl"

says Hallucination Ridhima

Ridhima tries to get up but falls. However, with the help of the wall, she stands up against hallucination Ridhima,

“I will not die without fighting for a life I am not yet done living"

says Ridhima while blood dripping from ears

"Let's fight then,"

says Hallucination Ridhima while trying to attack but this time Ridhima takes the punch yet doesn't fall. She remembers what Sher said, observe and take inner help of inner strength to stand against the enemy.

Hallucination Ridhima is throwing punches after punches, yet Ridhima stands straight.

Ridhima doesn't budge from the place. Yes, she is falling down but then again she is getting up back with more determination in her eyes. Hallucination Ridhima is losing her patience,

"If you don't don't start fighting now you'll lose that hope and end up like the others Ridhima"

shouts Hallucination Ridhima while in return she gets to see Ridhima smirk filled face.

Ridhima wants to strike back but Hallucination Ridhima strangles her,

"I'm in your mind Ridhima. Every step you take, I know. So you cannot beat me,"

says Hallucination Ridhima with snarling voice.

“You will never be a hero. You were never meant to be a hero"

says Hallucination Ridhima.

Hero. that one word made Ridhima lift her chin. It made her think of all the incredible things she had done in the past months. Fighting for people she cared about and doing everything it took to fix her mistake? That was heroism. Ridhima locked her eyes with Hallucination Ridhima and said,

"I already am. And it's heroine"

says smirk on her face while punching in Hallucination Ridhima stomach.

"You know what? You're right. You're in my mind, not in my heart. Why should I listen to the rules of the world and fight with the mind? I will fight with my heart no matter what. I will kill a person with my heart supporting it. I will save a person by having a heart beside me. I will play all the games with my heart. Because I will train my heart as my mind"

shouts Ridhima by grabbing the fallen knife and stabbing the hallucination Ridhima in her brain spot.

Hallucination Ridhima falls while Ridhima looks at her,

"If you guys are ready to play mind games, then I'm ready to play heart games. Be aware of the danger of darkness along with the light it brings"

making hallucination Ridhima disappear and leaves her all alone in the torture room.

In reality: -

Ridhima senes Hallucination Ridhima left,

"No, No, you cannot go like this. As part of the deal, you need to tell me about those nightmares. No, come back to me"

shouts Ridhima on top of her voice, while the door opens, Ridhima sees Sher standing at the door with pride in his eyes and smile on his lips.

Ridhima runs into arms of Sher thus making him fumble a lot and shocked to see Ridhima hugging him.

"I did it, Sher, I embraced myself. I won"

Ridhima shouts while Sher hugs her back saying,

"I know, Ridhima"

while tightening his grip on her making Aliza, Richie and Tarzan confused as Sher never had hugged anyone in the past 15 years.
