Chapter 11 – Return of the known and unknown
As clarity dawned on the silhouette, it confirmed Kalyani’s return. Time stood still while Malhar stood frozen at the sight of his Kalyani. He was unable to comprehend if it was just a mirage or if it was a reality. Anupriya stood there with tears in her eyes, thinking that the loss of her daughter might have driven her delusional. So she immediately looked to Sarthak for confirmation but he was as stunned as she was. Though the woman wasn’t dressed like how his mother did, Moksh knew that it was his Aai and was thrilled to see her. His wait had finally come to a fruitful end.
Kalyani stood at the entrance of Ahilya Niwas with a plethora of emotions running through her. She was finally home with her loved ones. She looked at a teary eyed Anupriya and realised that her Aai had longed for her just as much as she had for her Aai. Kalyani ran into Anupriya’s arm and exclaimed, “Aai, I missed you so much!!”. The sound of Kalyani’s voice and the warmth of her hug, set reality into a mortified Anupriya and she immediately broke down. Her prayers had finally been answered. She tightly hugged her daughter back while shedding happy tears. She released her hug and held Kalyani’s cheeks in her hand while trying to memorialize her daughter’s return.
Malhar on the other hand couldn’t hold on to his composure any longer. He pulled Kalyani away from Anupriya and into his arms, never wanting to let her go. While Anupriya wasn’t too pleased with Malhar’s gesture as she still wasn’t sure if he was innocent, she kept quiet not wanting to ruin the moment. Malhar began thanking the universe for granting his wish while continuously weeping. He pulled her in closer and began expressing how much he had missed her and how empty his life was without her. Malhar was hugging her really tightly, almost making her feel breathless.
Kalyani was overwhelmed with all the reactions that she was receiving, she was literally left speechless. Though she understood the emotions behind Malhar’s gesture, she nudged him back softly and reassured him that she was okay and that she was not going away from her family any time soon. Sarthak who was overlooking it all, just stood there with a smile on his face seeing all his loved ones together. The commotion had woken up Aaosaheb who entered the living room wanting to yell at everyone for creating a ruckus. But was left shocked, when she saw Kalyani. She greeted Kalyani affectionately and embraced her, much to Kalyani’s chagrin. Today, Kalyani was seeing a side of her family which she had never seen before.
Anupriya was done waiting for everybody to finish greeting Kalyani, she called out to Kalyani and began questioning her as to what happened with her on the day of the party?, where was she all these days?, and why hadn’t she reached out to her family earlier?. Kalyani was about to answer her mother’s questions when a dumbfound Avni called out Kalyani’s name in sheer astonishment. Avni was in a state of total panic as she knew that Kalyani’s return meant trouble for her. Kalyani who looked at Avni with a blank expression on her face, quickly turned to her mother for clarity. Anupriya noticed that something was amiss. But before she could address her concerns, an impatient and excited Moksh ran into his mother’s arms. He held onto her stomach tightly and asked her as to why she had abandoned him and expressed how much he had missed being with her. As an automatic response, Kalyani caressed Moksh’s head while looking at her Mother with a question in her eyes. Anupriya’s suspicions were now increasing, something just didn’t seem right. Moksh continued to express how sad and lonely he had felt without her. Malhar who was witnessing all this, took Kalyani’s hand in his and kissed it lovingly. Kalyani smiled uncomfortably and pulled her hand back. She also stepped away from Moksh and went near her Aai in confusion. While Malhar became slightly suspicious, he shrugged it off thinking that her actions were probably a result of shock and exhaustion.
But Moksh was not one to back off easily as he had spent so much time away from his Aai. He again grabbed on to Kalyani’s Hand and began explaining to her about how he didn’t have to play the game anymore and that it was ok for her to address him by his true identity. He told her that his baba had promised him that everything was now going to be alright and that they could finally be a family now. He just wanted to be with her and spend time with her. Moksh persistently pulled her towards their room in an attempt to get her undivided attention while everyone rejoiced the mother-son reunion. Kalyani was still unable to digest everything that was happening with her. And as she walked towards her room, she started experiencing a sharp pain in her head and she began trembling. Within a few seconds, she collapsed on the floor and lost consciousness.
Everyone let out a scream in concern. Malhar rushed to her side but before he could reach Kalyani, a stranger ran past him and took Kalyani in his arms shocking everyone there.
What had happened to Kalyani? Was she doing ok? Who was this stranger? How was linked to Kalyani? Why was he in Ahilya Niwas at this late hour? Find out more in Chapter 12.
